Custodian Athiair
Ok basically I against everything that makes sense am going to be using Stern as my commander for my list. I love his fluff but don't want to make him a Grand Master and say it is Stern. I will be using his rules anyway (eventually i will get a Grand Master), but in my opinion is says Grand Master rarely go on missions - while the Brother Captains do - and i am a huge stickler for fluff and background  anyway on to the actual topic of the thread. what background is their to Stern's Brotherhood. i was hoping there would be quite lot considering how famous he is. i'm just looking so i know the background to my own army :D which i can then build on. of course when i get my own Brother Captain i can make my own brotherhood (it will be a long way away, but still) anyway back on to the topic. Does anybody have any background knowledge to Sterns brotherhood? apart from the stuff in his entry in the codex? thanks in advance :) Athiair :jaw: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/ Share on other sites
skarn
Well the fluff mentions he won't take the GM role, so presumably there is a GM in his company. Also, the book mentions Stern was a part of the company that took out Angron under Brother Captain Aurellian, so I presume he still is? This company was decimated 500 years ago and Stern's fluff mentions his company often taking horrendous casualties thanks to his demon mate, so I'd guess it's probably pretty small. You'd probably be best simply going off the standard company template mentioned in the codex; ~60 Strike Squad/Terminators, ~20 Interceptors, ~20 Purgation, 5-10 Paladins (including at least 1 apocathary), an attached Librarian, Techmarine, Stern and the company GM. No idea about Dreadknights and noughts, and I'd assume Purgation numbers are not set. Thats all just a guess mind you. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2732058 Share on other sites
Inquisitor =D=
Sad to say the concept of the Grey Knight Brotherhoods is brand new so there isn't much of any Fluff associated with them. =]D[= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2732136 Share on other sites
Custodian Athiair
ok thanks for the help skarn i'm going to be reading all of the fluff i can find on Mr Stern. but while we are on the topic on brotherhoods, how do you come up with fluff for them? any tips for that? for future reference... and =D= thats a good point i had forgotten it, thanks for reminding me :) Athiair :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2732167 Share on other sites
skarn
Well there isn't any fluff on specific companies yet. An interesting way you could do it would be assume that each of the companies was started by a traitor marine and exemplifies the qualities and modus operandi of that marine's pre-heresy legion? For example, let's assume that Garro became the captain of the 2nd company of Grey Knights. The 2nd company's approach to warfare may share some similarities will the pre-heresy deathguard. It's all up to you really. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2732175 Share on other sites
death_incarnite
Well i know in the old codex they have quite a bit on him and a very cool two page story so if you haven't read it find someone with the old codex. also he seems to always be accompanied by four or five terminators Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2732193 Share on other sites
Custodian Athiair
i have the old codex somewhere in my big messy house. so finding that could be interesting ;) i have been looking for it for about a year to be honest. and i like the theory you put forward - skarn - but sorry to pick one hole in it. being which don't which brotherhood is lead by who. and who started it. i know i could make it up but still. and the other problem is see with it is surely each brotherhood would change in style with each new Brother-Captain. just a suggestion thanks for the idea though it is a interesting one :P Athiair :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228026-sterns-brotherhood/#findComment-2733012 Share on other sites
