Olgerth Istaarn
Let's just say Olgerth Istaarn is bored out of his gourd. Let's also say he's been in a deep depression and a building funk for the past, oh, I don't know. But there is a bright spot in his miserable excuse of a life: he's got a bonus for whatever passes for a job that he does. Since a chunk of this bonus has to be reserved for drugs, alcohol and sex with women of ill repute, he's got about $300 to spend on the other kind of crack, that is the plastic kind. I want to buy me a Grey Knight Battleforce, because I'm sick of building regular PA and want something radically new. Of course, there's no such thing as a Grey Knight Battleforce. All I want is a good selection of units that could be put together into a 2000 pts or so list that wouldn't abjectly suck. I don't want an inquisition list, so no space monkeys. I'm thinking: 10 terminators (2 packages of 5) 2 or 3 squads of PAGK with magnetized backpacks (so I can field them as whatever I want to). A Storm Raven One or two Dread Knights Any suggestions of what else I should buy (or perhaps not buy)? number6
A couple of Dreadnoughts with double twin-linked autocannons and psybolts are clearly going to be core units in many, if not most, GK army lists. It's so very points efficient and the codex also doesn't have many other options for long-range anti-armour fire support. You won't see them in every army, but it is just about the only unit available that fills that particular niche. You can run them cheap for 135 pts as heavies. For added survivability, they're truly fearsome as Venerable Dreadnoughts, though at the cost of 195 pts. Cheap conversions for the weapons arms are to be had from aegis defense lines kits, though, of course, Forgeworld offers mortis TLAC arms as well.
