Something Wycked
Of course its useless against vehicles. You don't take it to give vehicles a new matte black post-fire finish, you take it to ash infantry. I won't go so far as to say "completely" because it can perform decent against armor 10 (and who doesn't like ignoring the cover saves of armor 10 skimmers moving flat out?) and its also not completely useless against power armor. It repeatedly destroyed Necron Immortals just fine, they just kept Orb'ing back up ;) Guns may be "largely secondary" on your Dreadknights, but Your Mileage May Vary, right? I don't "forget" how bloody and one-way close combat is in 40k; I simply avoid it as much as I can get away with for the pure joy of shooting my opponent to pieces :( To bring this back in line with the topic of the post, instead of further discussion on how we think Dreadknights should be equipped, how do you think your army list would fare if you invested in Interceptors so your Psycannons were in range of enemy armor on turn 1 instead of turn 3? You could even cut all the ranged weapons off your DK entirely if he had 2 or 3 Interceptor Squads as fire support. It only inflicts one hit on armour (unless they're bunched up in a squadron or something), and even against AV10 one hit is pretty marginal. Guns may be "largely secondary" on your Dreadknights, but Your Mileage May Vary, right? Also, you play Knights, you will be in close-combat at some point (it's the other half of the army's effectiveness). Especially with Dreadknights, they own in close-combat. Yeah it's a good idea, but they can't be made scoring unless TGS (and I already have Purifiers clamouring for that upgrade). I would caution against making 'alpha strike' lists with Knights, they don't have the manz to suffer much retaliation.
