Hi All,

By new I havn't really played 40k since 2002.

Need a little help with the new Grey Knight codex and rules please.

I have my first game tomorrow and what to ask a few questions:

Nemisis weapons: Do I have to use my Psychic ability to arm the force weapons and that is the only thing I can do or is it just a test? In other words can I use hammerhand as well?

On the purifiers if i use Clensing flame dose that mean i just have power weapons as i can't do both?

Fire Ponits on Rhino. What, who, can fire? Can I fire heavy weapons? or just assult? I.e Psycannon at Assult 2 or Heavy 4?

Can a guy with a heavy weapon still make his basic cc attack?

The Vindicare, how many shots dose he get per turn? !?

I am starting out with a 5 vr's one game 5000 points per side, in a friendly game to learn the rules with regular players on either side of me against Tyrinids.

Yes, just like normal Force Wepaons, using the Force Wepaon ability of a Nemesis Weapon is a Psychic Power. You can't use both Hammerhand and the Forcewepaon unles you have a Psychic Mastery of 2 or more, or there's an IC attached tot he unit.

As above. CF and Force Weapon are both Psychic Powers.

Any 2 minis in the unit.

As for the Psycannon, if the unit/Rhino has moved that turn, Assault 2. If they've been stationary that turn, Heavy 4.

Can a guy with a heavy weapon still make his basic cc attack?

Yes. At his listed profile.

The Vindicare, how many shots dose he get per turn? !?

Both his weapons are Heavy 1. You can only use 1 shooting weapon per turn (as he's not a MC). So 1 shot.

If you decide to inflict instant death you can't use Hammer Hand and vice versa. Only 1 power per turn for infantry squads, so that's Hammer Hand, active force weapons, Cleansing Flame etc.

If the vehicle moves they count as moving and can only fire if the vehicle moved 6 inches or less. So 2 psycannons from a Rhino that moved 6 inches gets 4 shots off.

Models with special weapons still make their attacks, they just aren't NFW attacks.

1 shot per turn on the assassin.

Both his weapons are Heavy 1. You can only use 1 shooting weapon per turn (as he's not a MC). So 1 shot.

The pistol is Pistol, so he can move and fire.

Down the line:

-All Grey Knight units (with a few exceptions like upgrade characters and HQs) are Psyker Mastery level 1, meaning they can only use a single power per turn. Both Hammerhand and activating your Force Weapons are powers you can use, but since they are only level 1 they can only use one of them. The good news is that you aren't likely to use the Force Weapons that much due to the general lack of multi-wound models (unless you have a friend who plays Tyranids), making Hammerhand more useful. That said, you don't have to use a power every turn, as doing so risks losing your Justicar to Perils.

-Purifiers can choose between their weapons causing instant death, Hammerhand, or Cleansing Flame, but as they are Mastery Level 1 may only choose one power to use per player turn.

-You would only be able to fire your Psycannons at Assault 2 if the Rhino moved

-Your dudes with heavy weapons can still make an attack. I like to think he's using his psychic powers to throw rocks at people. WITH HIS MIND

-Vindicare gets one shot per turn.

EDIT: Triple ninja'd lol!

1. Brotherhood of psykers has psychic mastery 1, this means a unit must choose between it's psychic power(s) and force weapons. Also note that even the brotherhood banner doesn't override this. The only exception is when a character accompanies the unit, they can activate hammerhand on themselves and the squad, allowing the squad to use force weapons.

2. Purifiers operate as above.

3. Two models can fire from the top hatch. If they are not wearing power armour, the vehicle will count as open-topped. They can fire any weapon they can normally use, but normal rule applies for heavy weapons I.e. Can't fire them if the rhino moved.

4. Heavy weapon operators lose their nemesis force weapons, but still get to use the attacks on their profile. The exception to this are those wearing terminator armour, who retain their force weapons.

5. To use the sniper's motto, "1 shot, 1 kill"

. Two models can fire from the top hatch. If they are not wearing power armour, the vehicle will count as open-topped. They can fire any weapon they can normally use, but normal rule applies for heavy weapons I.e. Can't fire them if the rhino moved.

This is no longer the case.

Rhino's no longer count as open topped, no matter who shoots from the fire point.

Really? When did that change?

For Grey Knights? This Codex. ;)

It no longer has the old 'open topped' rule our old Codex did.

Ah right lol, I forget that the rules for the rhino aren't universal across codexes. You'd think being a DA, deathwing specific player I'd know the dangers of reading wargear from one codex to another ;)
