henrywalker
so i have a 10 terminator squad, 9 falchions, 1 brother hood banner. am i right in saying that the brother hood banner guy gives himself the attack bonus, ie he still has 1 more attack than normal, everyone else has 2 more than normal is that right? i love the idea of everyone else killing people with super psychic swords and hes like "i've got a stick with some cloth on it, come and have a :cussing go" lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228337-brotherhood-banner/ Share on other sites
Abaddonshand
Everyone in the unit, including any and all attached independent characters benefit from +1 attack due to the banner. However, the main thing is the banner bearer's attacks are no longer power weapons, as these are given up to carry the banner. Abaddonshand
Yes, unlike the warding stave, which is still a nemesis weapon, the banner is just a pole with some cloth on it really :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228337-brotherhood-banner/#findComment-2736090 Share on other sites
Oiad
Yep, what a let down that Matt Ward didn't make it the 'banner-slap of death' it should have been. Too difficult to juggle it with a pair falchions I guess. If he was worried about the banner falchion combo (back banner prehaps) it could have been un upgrade as follows: 1 Terminator my replace his nemesis force sword with a nemesis force sword and a brotherhood banner Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228337-brotherhood-banner/#findComment-2736230 Share on other sites

henrywalker
or he could just hang some cloth on his warding stave or do what SM have managed to do for centuries and stick it on their back. or, have weapons sheathed and stick it in the ground when the enemy come. oh well :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228337-brotherhood-banner/#findComment-2736570 Share on other sites
Angelis Mortis
so i have a 10 terminator squad, 9 falchions, 1 brother hood banner. am i right in saying that the brother hood banner guy gives himself the attack bonus, ie he still has 1 more attack than normal, everyone else has 2 more than normal is that right? i love the idea of everyone else killing people with super psychic swords and hes like "i've got a stick with some cloth on it, come and have a :cussing go" lol According to my math your at 45(+4 CCW) attacks on the charge. (2 base, +1 Flachion, +1 banner, +1 charge x9=45+4CCW). You are also sitting at 425 pts. Now, I don't have an issue with a 425pt 10 man Termie squad, its just I can't think of too many units that you would really need 45 NFW attacks against, especially if your using Hammerhand. Its mega-overkill. Personally I would go more with either Falchions or the Banner, and the Banner is more points efficient the bigger the squad. Eddie Orlock
To use a crude approximation, fighting rival hammernators you'll get ~45/2 hits, ~45/6 wounds, and ~45/18 (~3) iced dudes. Assuming you smashed into a crusader load of 'em, 5 swing back for ~10/2 hits, ~25/6 wounds, and ~25/9 (~3) iced knights. And this was when you charged. If they get the jump on you out of said tank, ~36/2, ~36/6, and ~36/18 respectively being hit back with ~18/2, ~45/6, ~45/9 (~5). Knights lose by three and are in trouble in later rounds. A warding staff helps though, turns the tide a bit in both senarios. Then again, Hammernators might be the ideal unit to do this with. Howling Banshee's might also pose a problem Fortunately the knights have Storm Bolters and we all already knew that they weren't a combat army.
