Battle mats

Hi all.

Just signed up to BnC and already I have a question.

This is about the durability of the battle mats. I have been looking at a few.

Mat o War

Noch

Woodland Scenics

Obviously it is a tad tricky weighing up the pros and cons of these mats without actually having one in your hand or having used one.

Just wanted to know what people's experience had been like with any of these, or any others for that matter.

Cheers

Thanks Zinzite, I like cheap, but that might not be quite what i'm looking for this time around. :tu:

That Zuzzy site is interesting and I certainly haven't seen a mat quite like the ones they do. They do look seriously durable as well. Worth consideration anyway.

I have heard that the old GW (re-packaged Noch) mat was a good one. I wouldn't be attaching it to a table. I'm not too sure if that means it would last longer or not. Attached and not attached will both have wear and tear, but i don't know which would be worse.

Great responses so far though. Keep em coming I say.

cheers

The paper backed one is INTENDED to be permanently glued to a surface. The paper cannot handle repeated rolling and unrolling and cracks and splits after not that long. The local GW got a lot of flak from people because their redshirts were told they were fine for this -and they plainly weren't.

The Noch ones have been used by model railroaders for decades as a "glue down" mat. It pretty much HAS to be permanently mounted to get any kind of durability out of it.

If you want something that can handle repeated rolling and unrolling, then get a FABRIC mat (or a zuzzy one).
