Smooth paintjob :) I'm loving your focussed palette.

I've been agonizing about how to introduce white areas on dreads without them becoming too busy, and while I have been toying with the idea of white shields myself, It is a joy to witness how well the white and gold accents makes the model "pop".

Thanks for the comments guys.

@Templar14, I was very worried when painting that the white shield would draw the eye too much, but the black cross in the middle seems to tone down that area a bit and allows the gold on the sarcophagus to be the focal point (as it should, it is his 'face' after all). I very nearly did the cross on the shield in red to match my termies, but I think that would have been a mistake. Fortunately the AoBR dread has that skull and crossbones thingy on the other side of the sarcophagus to balance out the shield or he may have looked a little lopsided.

@firepower, I did think about putting battle damage on the other leg, but decided that the scroll was enough 'interest' in that area. The battle damage on the right leg is just to balance up (a little bit) the extensive chipping on the power fist as the chipping on the feet has been dulled a bit with weathering powders. I'm fairly inexperienced with the battle damage stuff and still learning (my rhinos look like they've been sandblasted). I'll have to think of a suitable explanation for his lopsided damage. Maybe he kicked something.....or got scratched by a clutch of Xenos Psyker Kittens!

@amberclad87, yeah the goblin green is proper 'old skool' :tu: I have a good reason though....honest! A big chunk of my Army was painted back in the mid-late '90s when I was a staffer at GW at the height of the 'red period' and goblin green bases were the norm. Most of the stuff I've painted since then does have brown bases, but I kept the green on the Templars as I think the vibrant colour frames the black miniatures nicely and makes them 'pop' a bit more. It's also a nod to my old skool tendencies. Check out the termies in my album to see just how old skool I can be, those guys are the first marines I ever owned and are about 20 years old.

Very good. Love the neatness and especially the green scope.

Straightforward, clean, simple. Nicely done. The battle damage/chipping seems a bit oddly placed though: one leg's gotten kinda beat up bu the other looks untouched, for instance. Nice work on the laser sight by the way! :)

Both shins were weathered like the left one. The right one got hit by a Rail gun and so was replaced. Hence, uneven damage ;)

I have to agree I still base alot of my models with the green bases for old times sake. I can remember my first box of Marines (30 marines ) for 19.99 USD's; and remember them fondly in my old age :D
