Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
I am likely going to run one or two of these guys at some point: Grand Master, Mordrak, an Inquisitor upgraded with Terminator armor, none of whom have models. How do you guys go about modeling them? Since I always run Terminators in multiples of 5, I don't have any to spare for HQs. I don't want to spend more money on an entire box of terminators to create one or two models either. Thaelion Hexis
I think the metal terminator brother captain from the old set is still available online. Skirnir Ragefang
Captain Stern and the old Brother Captain are probably your best bet. These could count as anyone of your potential choices. Or the Scriptor in Terminator armour. However with current GW Prices, 2 of these might come in almost as expensive as another Termibox and you could always build options for your other Terminators. jerry
Some Bits sites sell individual figures and I've seen some complete single plastic GK terminators on Ebay Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2739317 Share on other sites
thecapn226
I took an old Coteaz model and put one the the metal termie psycannon arms on him in place of the eagle arm. With a little application of some green stuff to smooth things out, the arm bulks up the model nicely and I use him as in terminator armor. My theory is would a man that is 5' something be a same armor size as someone who is 7-8 feet? number6
I think the metal terminator brother captain from the old set is still available online. And, IMHO, still the single best miniature yet produced by Citadel. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2739346 Share on other sites
Drachnon
I just model my terminator models from the plastic GK terminator box and add some stuff from bit box to make them stand out more if needed. henrywalker
here i what i did for my Grand Master Inpensus (my own made up one) he is based on lord draigo, i then gave him different arms and a bare plastic head. i gave him a converted halberd to make him stand out more, also i made him hold his helmet. pretty simple Can i point out that this model IS NOT PAINTED. i posted him before asking about the conversion and people kept going on about the terrible paint job, it is BARELY STARTED. sorry but it pissed me off :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2739562 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
Getting that extra termi box is the most cost efficient way to go. Most places are going to charge ~$20 for a single terminator, whatever the source. That's twice as much as the $10 per terminator+extra bits from the full box. Go to the right site, and you'll be able to save a good 25% on the full box, but never on single minis. Zagman
How about Hector Rex from forgeworld as your inquisitor. Just add a psycannon and go. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2739615 Share on other sites

Inquisitor =D=
 I have the Hector Rex model and you have no idea how sad I am that I can't field it as is! Inquisitors can't take shields... Lame huh? Way to cooperate with ForgeWorld Matt. =]D[= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2739695 Share on other sites
KnowThyEnemy
I used a regular plastic term for mordrak (suitably posed and with his hammer) and I converted a stern model into Thawn. Im not a huge fan of the helmetless look, so i swapped the head out for a plastic termie one. gave him a new plastic halberd and a falcion (for coolness) and called it a day. as for the grandmaster, ill probably just use one of the older BC or Draigo. Haven't ran an army with one yet though. My original GM was the term librarian with a magnetized psycannon arm. i changed the shaft into a polearm with a mace bottom, but ive since decided 2 of the new sword ends looks large and beastie B). and since librarians cant have psycannons ( :P ) i swapped the arm with a regular magnetized one. Loyalist
I'm using Helbrecht from the Black Templars as an Ordo Malleus inquisitor in TDA. He's as tall as the GK terminator models and could be considered an exceptionally large 'unmodified' human like Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex. The armour is bulky and could pass as more elaborate TDA. The model comes with a (force) sword for the psyker upgrade and has a combi-melta. All I did for the conversion was very carefully file and fine sand off the Black Templar insignia and add some 54mm Inquisitor Eisnhorn sigils, and Inquisition shoulder pad decals. Unfortunately the sigils aren't available as bits anymore. henrywalker
i did my mordrak by buying Stern and coteaz. i nicked coteaz's hammer for mordrak (i really like the shorter haft) and added a few various bitz etc. i then made coteaz into a BC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228543-advice-on-modeling-hqs/#findComment-2753774 Share on other sites
