ephrael
Cheers mate, certainly will when I get some batteries for the old camera. Thanks, I appreciate it. Cyrox
Lovely looking Lamenters, what was the recipe? Both your Astral Claws and Lamenters are superb, great thread buddy ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2841815 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Cheers bud, the recipie for the Lamenters was quite simple. I sprayed em black, drybrushed Calthan Brown and then layered on Iyanden Darksun. Then I washed it with Yellow Wash and Highlighted with a mix of Bleached Bone and Golden Yellow. The recesses were hit with Ogryn Flesh just to get some depth in there. Bat33.1
Well painted with a nice consistent look to the army. By the way are you using codex marines or the tyrants legion list from the IA-9 book? I'm playing around with a few ideas for a Badab War army, so far I've painted a few figures but I just can't decide on an army list to pull it all together. It makes building stuff to paint a bit difficult when I can't decide what units/wargear to use ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2842685 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Hiya mate, at the moment I'm running them as a purely Codex force as I'm part way through a campaign at the local GW. But after thats over I'll see about getting Huron and Valthex some game time. Sumatris has been running around as a basic Captain and has been kicking ass. His storm shield just never seems to fail. Also I hope eventually to get a small force of Guardsmen to paint up as Tyrants Legion, but thats way into the future. Before them I'm painting up a vanguard assault squad to act as Valthexes body guard. The idea being the can jump toward any threat getting to close to Valthex and his big gun. I'm modelling them with the Grey Knight teleporter packs to make them look a more like Valthexes personal guinnea pigs. "Here you go lads, see if that works". PorridgeMeister
Your force really is awesome! Your version of Ar. Valthex reminds me of this a bit. Dosjetka
http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2376.jpg How did you paint this chap's skin? He's a real beauty  And how did you do the fading between the blue-ish and the pink-ish skin? Cheers, Ludovic Edit: Btw, I'm loving your Astral Claws army -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2843232 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Cheers, I followed Pig of Spartas daemonic skin technique for that guy over on the tutorials section but had to admin one or two colours. Check it out as it's great for getting that Borg-esque tone. Commander S. Caesare
I kinda want to see the Astral Claws' Honour Guard, the ones that surrounded Huron in the Mantis Warriors short story, Trial of the Mantis Warriors. Good job, by the way. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2843674 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Gonna have to re-read that one. Didn't the deface all the imperial eagles on their armour? I liked the ending of that story. Rob_Loken
As requested, here are some better photos of the Lamenters. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2483.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae63/Astartes_Loken/PICT2484.jpg Now the Sarge does need extensive weathering, but I haven't got round to it yet. lokkorex
nice lamenters, how did you do the weathering? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2844345 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Cheers mate, the weathering was just a case of chaos black in random Places and then overlaid with boltgun metal. I used a Devlan Mud wash on them too to add to the rusting, worn out vibe. Olis
Nice Lamenters, brother. I like the fact they were Fists before they're current incarnation. That's resourceful, I think. Besides, at least you're getting the chance to touch them up/improve them (depending on how old they were...). :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228554-an-astral-claw-log/page/6/#findComment-2844892 Share on other sites
Son of Carnelian
Truly fantastic. Your work here proves how great the Claws can look! Just a question you may have answered earlier (I was too busy looking at all of the pretty pictures though to read everything): Are you running them as Codex: Space Marines or Codex: Chaos Space Marines? Rob_Loken
Cheers mate, much appreciated. I'm running them as Codex Space Marines, mainly set up for medium range combat. I am tempted to get myself Landraider next month to ferry my Termies about and add some more ranged firepower to the force. Emperor's Instrument
Really nice army this mate. Love the worn/weather effect you've achieved just by washing and streaking. Also the unique kitbash for a Whirlwind, looks good and saved a small heap of cash at the same time, you're so moneysupermarket.com haha. Look forward to seeing more.
