bebe
So everyone wants to use their heavy slots for DKs and Psyfle Dreads. I'm not knocking either. Both are solid choices. But recently I've decided to explore the possibilities of Purgation squads with teleport homers. My friend had used one to bring in Terminators and it was highlyb effective. At 1500 points you can easily fit in three purgartion squads and three terminator squads ... 5 Terminator Squad: Incinerator, 3 Halberds, MC Deamonhammer - 205 5 Purgation Squad: 4 Psycannons, Teleport Homer, Rhino - 215 After that just fill in with Coteaz/henchmen/chimera/rhino and build up to 2000. Twelve psycannons, three incinerators and halberd terminators ... nasty. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228741-purgation-squads/ Share on other sites
Zeratil
That purgation squad would be 225, not 215. The issue with that config is getting the squads to where they need to go in order to bring in the termies without them being popped out of their transport and being blown to pieces. I'd consider taking RBs instead of rhinos. The best thing to with purgation squads with 4 psycannons is to jump out of your vehicle out of LOS once your in range and use astral aim for your shots (if you take an Psybolt razorback it can be an effective threat after dropping of its cargo). The advantage that the puragation squad has over say the purifer squad with 4 psycannons is their ability to fire while being immune to return fire, you want to be using that ability, your paying alot for it after all. If you want to keep the costs down you can go with 2 psycannons and 2 incinerators with a rhino, cheaper and you just bunker up in midfield and shoot out the top hatch. All in all purgation squads aren't bad its just that psylemans bring more of what GK lack - being long range firepower. Now if the purgation squad could deep strike I would bring a squad in heartbeat... bebe
Sry yes it's 225. Not the issue though. With enough vehicles and threats on the table what will your opponent go after? I can certainly hide my Purgation squads behind other vehicles. Yes, there are a few armies that can take out four or five vehicles in a single turn. But id you run Coteaz you have a good cjhance of going first and then you are already where you need to be. Mid table. I don't see it as a tough issue to get around. And I would not put the incinerators on the Purgation squad. Let the Termies have one each. As a quick example ... not that I'm building this yet ... Coteaz: 100 5 Purifier Squad: 2 Psycannons, Bolterback, Psybolt Ammo - 190 2 Henchman Squad: 2 Jokaeros, Chimera, Heavy Flamer, Multi-laser - 125 5 Terminator Squad: Incinerator, 3 Halberds - 205 5 Terminator Squad: Incinerator, 3 Halberds - 205 5 Terminator Squad: Incinerator, 3 Halberds - 205 5 Purgation Squad: 4 Psycannons, Teleport Homer, Bolterback, Psybolt Ammo - 235 5 Purgation Squad: 4 Psycannons, Teleport Homer, Bolterback, Psybolt Ammo - 235 So ten psycannons 3 tl heavy bolters 3 incinerators heavy falmer multi-melta jokaero digitals 15 marines 10 terminators Seems nasty enough to me.
