Inquisitors with a chance of nids... Galefire art thread

The fact that the heads are still proportionally the same is visually distracting. However I can mentally bypass that by imagining the intro teaser movie for SC2. When I do that I consider the GK in this picture as a "pilot" of the oversized suit. Doesn't really fit the fluff, but it works for me.

Overall, a lot better then anything I could do. Well done. Really fun picture to look at and dig into visually.

Well just remember, this is just a preview, still have to do all the actual painting on top of this line-work :)

Classic. Beautifully colored, fantastic detail work. I especially like the warpfire-looking sky.

The only thing I don't love is the size of the heads; they're a bit small for my tastes, but not comically so (unlike the Blood Angels codex cover, which made me cringe.)

Very well done, sir. Thanks for posting it!

So I did a bit of a small update to fix a few thing and improve the overall composition in my opinion.

Epic size is still available here...http://galefire.com/2011/06/kaldor-draigo-and-friends/

^_^ Took out the daemons they were slaughtering? They looked good, amigo.

I can see where you're coming from, though. These guys are BAMF enough without having mooks getting killed on the sides, and this way it does really focus the attention more to the center instead of the edges.

Still looks great! :o

I took them out because I added them as an afterthought to the composition, and they just didn't feel like they were interacting well with the guys they were supposed to be fighting. Also, I wanted the focus to be more on the center, as it was all over the place before (and still kind of is), but its slightly more focused now at least, heh.

So I did a couple quick Dark Heresy characters, not quite as in depth as my usual stuff, but that is because I just wanted to get a quick visual of them. Colors came out kinda meh, I'll do a more proper picture in an actual setting once we get some better gears.

So here is a WIP to replace that terrible previous image

Still got a bit more to do, but this should give you an idea.

Aw, you took out the cool background. The characters look great, but they're sorta in the middle of nowhere. They look too much like they're on display somewhere. I think putting them in the environment adds a lot to the picture overall, and gives context for where they are and what they're doing.

Otherwise, great pic. And the previous ones with the Grey Knights were fantastic! Nice to see someone with talent do some quality color pictures of them. Keep up the great work!

I took them out of the background because it didn't make sense. Trained acolytes wouldn't be standing in the light, at night, in the middle of a hive city, perhaps ready to do battle. I felt like I was trying to force a narrative on what was just supposed to be a picture of a couple of characters.

Next time I draw them, they will be in a situation that makes sense, so I CAN do a cool background.

However, next up is a commission piece for a guy of an Inquisitoress fighting nids in a frozen tundra!
