what paint should i use? ultramarines

Recommended Posts

I use ultramarine blue(GW paint) over a Krylon black undercoat. Is that good/bad?

Well, provided the undercoat doesn't mask details of the model, it's ok. I would suggest using a basecoat of Mordian Blue, though, it'll provided a deeper base colour than Ultramarine Blue. ;)

Of course, it all depends on what you are after as well. I use UM Blue as my basecoat because that's the color that I want them to be. I feel the usual Ultramarines schemes are a bit too dark blue.

I been using a black undercoat with the top coat as UM blue. I think it looks dark enough for me. I tried a white under coat and the marines

turned abit too light.

But I'm not the greatest painter..

Yes i plan to use highlights

space marine schnauzer you should go with the base moridian blue i tryed it on and put ultramarine blue on some parts of the armor, it looked good not too dark not too light.

I looked in my paint storage and I don't have any moridian blue--but I have apple barrel true blue which is close..primed a bunch of SMs..I'll have

to see how it turns out.
