Blood and Rust... A Punishers Project

Recommended Posts

Evening, brothers.

So after my short break to finish up my Black Templars, I decided that it was about time I get back in the game and make a complete chaos space marine force. Now I know some of you have seen my Night Lords, but I decided to shelve the 8th Legion for now and spread my daemonic wings and work on an army that doesn't have much fluff behind it and make them into my own force, similiar to what my wonderful friend 1000 heathens did with his Marines Malevolent.

So I fished around through the chaos codex and lexicanum to see what I could find and one warband struck my fancy. The Punishers. I looked through their fluff and the only considerable note of interest was that they were being hunted down by 7 space marine chapters.... huh :) that's alot of loyalists for one warband.... and then my brain started churning. I took the basic notions of the Punishers and have managed to make them into my own unique force, with a back story and everything.

Now unfortunately, I have to bug out and hurry my ass to work so I cannot relate to you my 14 page wall of fluff that I worked behind these sick bastards, but soon, oh soon my dear friends, I shall deliver. ;)

Until then however, I shall leave you gents with a little treat.

I give to you the first two completed marines of my first chaos Marine squad

Each has their own back story and name and I will relate each to you in time, when I get the chance.

and this second Marine was inspired by nurgling 6688's Astral Claw metal gunner from his excellent thread 'The Tyrant Rises' I recommend you all take a look at it and appreciate the exquisite paint work he does.

Anywho, I must be off now. I hope you all enjoy.

mogluk- Thanks but no, his name is brother Kestra. He has a tendency to walk through battle most of the time. Some of his battle brothers scold him, under the impression that he is lazy or slow. However the simple fact of the matter is that he sevors the chase fear of his victims. He loves more than nothing else to shoot cowards in the back as they run or casually walk up to their hiding place and yank them out so he can wrench the life out of the vermin. It gives him the personal pleasure of reminding himself just how weak and pathetic humans are and the truth behind the creed of the Punishers.

Terminatorinhell, Benji, hushrong- Thanks :)

GoosedaMoose- biggerized? really? huh, guess I'll have to do a comparison pick...

heathens- Oh my god I just burst out laughing at that! ^_^ Dude, I was playing Black Ops with some friends just the other day on Hardcore Team Deathmatch, and I managed to (by pure luck) earn the attack dogs killstreak and as I activated it I said to my friends Smithers.... Release the hounds..... :P

As a parting gift, I leave you with brother Gerrod. Gerrod is a model Punisher, excelling in the cacophony of slaughter and butchery of the human cattle. Although he is a skilled warrior, and has been gifted by the dark ones for his victories with the daemonic claw to better dismember his enemies, Gerrod has no love for fighting his fellow brother marines. He would rather try and sway his fellow space marines to the cause of the Punishers than simply murder them as most of his brothers do so.

More models and a fluff wall to come tomorrow, brothers.

Cheers.

Alright gents, time for an update. so, to start off, I present to you the more blood thirsty of the squad, (but by no means crazy) Brother Cagal.

And, as promised, I have a little tasty morsel of fluff to get your salivary glands working, although it seems Goose's is already overflowing. ;)

The Punishers

Founding Chapter: Unknown

Founding: Late M36

Leader: Daemon Prince Tzargabath ( formerly Lord Judge Everis )

Home World: Sunder (destroyed)

Estimated Strength: Unknown

ORIGINS-

In the late ages of M36, the Age of Apostasy hung over the imperial galaxy like the hands of a murderer threatening to suffocate the very life of humanity. The Tyranny of Lord Vandire had burned the galaxy the many years now, and only now had a coalition of Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Guard, and Adeptus Astartes backed the preaches of Sebastian Thor to commit regicide of the mad king Vandire. However, in the secret deep vaults of Terra, those High Lords still loyal to the Emperor set about their own way to strike at Vandire. They forged a new Chapter of Space Marines, brutal ruthless warriors created to bring down Vandire and his fanatical puppets. They would come to be known as the Heralds of Judgment, and their crusade of ashes was unrelenting. What the High Lord did not expect, was the effect that this brutal civil war would have on the Heralds. They were not baptized in the blood of xenos raiders or chaos zealots. No, they fought against imperials and slaughtered them in the thousands. The consecration of human blood on their alabaster power armour, twisted their perception of humanity and even from the very conception of their chapter, the roots of distrust and hatred buried itself deep in the subconscious of the Heralds of Judgment.

They did not commit their small contingent of Space Marines to the siege of Vandire's Palace on Terra, knowing that with four other Space Marine chapters that Vandire's fate was sealed, instead commiting mass punishments across the galxay of those who still were too blind to see that Vandire was a heretic and thus put them to the sword with no chance of repentance save for a slow and painful death. The atrocities of the Heralds of Judgment would have, at a time, be recorded as cold horrible genocides and mass murders of innocents, but due to the circumstances, the High Lords only saw that the Heralds had brought many of the worlds once loyal to Vandire back into the imperial fold and thus these actions were overlooked. The Heralds, however, never forgot what happened during the bloody age, and the millions of humans they were forced to execute. Many fingers were pointed at various different reasons as to the weakness in mankind, however none disputed that their hatred should be focused upon the accursed Ecclesiarchy, the root to which all this murder and death had born fruit from.

Enjoy.

oh and P.S. you were right Goose. O.o

Fuuuuuhrreeeaky...

Love the background story. Very cool, and of course a very fitting name :( Are the punishers the ones with bones painted onto their armour? And you said they're also hunted by 7 different Loyalist chapters right? Would these include the 4 that fought Vandire righteously and saw the Punishers' actions as totally dicky?

Looking forward to mooaar!

Goose- thanks man. ;) Yes, the Punishers are the bone colored chaos marines with the black skeleton decorating their armor.

and No, the four chapters who dethroned Vandire were the Soul Drinkers (who are now traitors), the Fire Hawks (now the Legion of the Damned), the Imperial Fists (former legion chapter) and the Black Templars (who would do the same thing if they were in the Heralds of Judgment's place). None of these chapters fit the bill for hunting down the Punishers.

I was really digging the models up until the fellow with the bloodthirster head. From the sides, it seems sloppily slapped on. Kind of like he's wearing a really big mask on top of a really big helm. Maybe a bit of simple GS melding the two would help?

Still, over all this is turning out to be an interesting and impressive project. I'm curious how you apparently biggerized your marines without even noticing though: GS between the legs and torsos maybe? With all the work people put into true-scaling I'd laugh for hours if something so simple worked so well

Firepower- thanks man, but actually the sloppy blood letter look was intentional. It was a personal decoration Cagal attached to his MK VII helmet himself as he did not trust the pathetic human artisans to get it right. So I meant to have it blatantly obvious that 1. it's just a mask on top of an mkVII helmet, and 2. was done by someone lacking in the department of masonry.

There's absolutely no GS in the legs or the torso. I swear. I have no idea why they're bigger. I think it might have to do with the pose of their legs....

The sense of movement from the last guy is incredible, he looks like he's gonna jump out of the screen. The fella with the fist looks good too, very imposing. Having said that, there are three things bugging me about these guys. First, mold lines. Brother, those suckers are everywhere, and they steal the show from your badasses, which really is a shame, as they are wonderfully converted in sick and twisted ways I only see in my nightmares. Second, runaway glue, for the same reason. Third, the Bloodletter mask. I understand the fluff you got for him, but nonetheless, it's an eyesore jutting so far away from the helm. If it was just slightly more flush with the helm (or strapped on, maybe plasticard or greenstuff straps?), I'd give it a thumbs up. Other than that, keep up the great work, brother, looking forward to seeing what else you got lurking in your twisted brain.

P.S. Nice avatar... ;) You should totally make a Warlord Burns leading your Punishers, and use mutated hell dogs for lesser daemons. Maybe even a Slaneesh worshipping Smithers as a second in command, lol.

P.S.S. Where do you get all those awesome skulls from?

I think the only one I have a problem with is Cagal. It's a little too Halloween-ey for him to just have a bloodletter's face on his helmet. Perhaps GS'ing some straps or daemonic muscles stretching across the back of his head?

Heru- yeah, you're probably right.

Seems nobody likes Cagal's helmet. But ohwell, can't please everyone.

Guess now would be a good time for an update.

Here's the squad melta gunner. Im happy with him, but I think he's missing something... Not sure what.

A skull strapped to his right pauldron!

But yeah man they're the bomb-diggity still, even though you gotta get rid of the mold lines, and I think the tassle on the sword pommel's gotta go since he looks like he's standing still, or maybe strolling menacingly, but nothing that warrents that swishing tassle :whistling:

And when can we expect to see some paint?
