Wulfebane
So I was in my local store today and got to talking about FWs and my recent conversions with a friend. He commented on my choice of base not being cavalry, where I rebutted that since a FW model never existed from GW that the base is heavily debated. So this friend decides to tell me that there was, in fact, a plastic FW model put out by GW around the end of 3E and was quickly OOP. I assumed he was referring to the Wulfen pack models, but he assured me he was not mistaken. Now, I stopped playing between the middle of 3E until roughly last Christmas, so I have no way to know... is he right? Did a model at one point exist? If so, does anyone have any pictures?? Max_Dammit
FW doesnt do plastic, and as far as i know no Fenrisian wolves where ever made, most just used fantasy wolves. Emperor's Scourge
I believe FW stands for Fenrisian Wolves. Maybe your friend is referring to the wolves that came with the Leman Russ model? Or maybe the Goblin Rider wolves? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228878-fenrisian-wolf-models-existed/#findComment-2744098 Share on other sites

Or maybe the Goblin Rider wolves? I asked him that too, b/c Geri/Freki are metal and my conversions use goblin rider bits, but he said these were completely unique from goblin rider wolves, Leman's wolves, chaos hounds, or anything from LotR. He's adamant that they were GW sculpts and not like Reaper or w/e and that they were specifically called "Fenrisian wolves" when sold in the box. ..and yes, FW = fenrisian wolves. Sorry. I feel fairly certain that no Fenwolves ever existed in GW's range and I have been around since before 3rd ed. The C:SW came out in 2000, and I am sure we would remember it, as that isn't that long ago. It is pretty hard to deal with his claim as he is providing no proof of their existence. Either he is pretending and we can't disprove it, or he is telling the truth and we can't verify it. I think he has made a mistake, if he is not just teasing you. Regardless, the "model" is not current and so how can it be used as a reason to base your's on a long base....? Valerian
I'm certain no Fenrisian Wolves have ever been produced by GW, other than the metal Freki and Geri from Rogue Trader era, and the new metal Fangir with Canis model. I've been playing and following the Wolves since '89, and am fairly sure that I haven't missed any models. DV8
Actually while no official Fenrisian Wolf models were every released by Games Workshop, way back when, blisters for some of the Space Wolf characters actually did include two companion wolf models that were basically the Goblin Wolf Riders, sans Goblins. They were quickly phased out, however, and the characters were simply sold by themselves in blister, with people having to purchase the wolf models from other kits (in this case, the Goblin Wolf Rider box).
