Even more boom

Well were back at it again for more 40K fun style. normal games with all the toys and none fo the restrictions.

 

This time arond we bumped it up to a cool 3K in points.

 

My list was basically the same with the exception of adding in lord karamozov(new rules), since i had the model already and it looks cool as well.

The table this time- we went for a terrain heavy table to make us be a bit more tactical in our movement and terrain use.

We rolled up a kill points game with table quartes for deployment.

The eldar went first.

 

Incidently the first 3 turns were amazingly not effective for either of us. nothing died, no squads were whiped out, we both did a whole lot of secondary vehicle damage(usually stunned/shaken or weapons)

 

The first kill came when one of his nuetered firstorms rammed a lucius drop pod and were both destroyed giving us a 1/1 KP ration.

 

Turn 4 the eldar really took off with the other pesky firestorm using its speed to get around behind my ironclads(it didn't help i could not touch the suckers in CC needing a 6+ to hit them all the time)

 

managing to destroy one and immobilise anouther. the last ironclad locked up a wraithseer, a squad of wraithguard and their handlers that popped out of a serpent till the bottom of turn 5.

 

My scouts tried to sneak in to get the other firstorm but lost the land speeder stom in the process, i was in assautl range this turn and as luck would have it i failed their pinning check, the only LD check i failed all day.

The firestorm promptly killed them the next turn.

 

Thanks to the holofield eldar sillyness i continued to have poor damage results i literally took the falcon apart one gun at a time but failed to kill it by the end of the game.

 

Bray'arth did manage to lock up eldrad and his wraithguard unit till the end of the game without making much headway.

 

In the end i lost 2 ironclads, my assault squad, the scouts and their speeder and 2 drop pods, the only kills i got in retern were the fire dragons, the firestorm and a farseer.

 

Victory this time around goes to the eldar.

Did a second game at 2K against a fellow salamander with my siege dread list. it was an objective based game on a standard 8' table and we ended up locking it up in a tie all the way around, didn't bother with pictures for that game though.

The last of the big games for the day saw my original force face off againt the elite of the grey knight

We had broke up the tables on the previous game so we decided to fight in the desert instead of the city this time around.

 

We rolled up 5 objectives and dawn of war for this game. i lost the roll and he made me go first.

 

With nothing to assault i parked my first 2 pods and their ironclads on objectives closer to him. since most of his force had to walk i stay back and shot most of the game. the raven as a flyer was a pain in the arse to bring down. it shot up my snipers a bit(than you MOTF for fortified ruin ! ) immobilised an ironclad, shot up one of my venerable dreads and generally made itself a nusance. it took most of my long range firepower and turn 5 to finally bring it down with an immobilised result. i had combat squaded my tac marines and they gated around the table with the libby scoring the center objective and surviving a strafing run from the stormraven. the dreadknight tangled with 2 ironclads killing 1 but falling to get the second. i also managed to take down a venerable dread in that melee. the lone mobile ironclad then rolled into dragos unit and as happensance would have it through bad dice rolls the unthinkable happened. the S10 thunderhammer failed to do anything to the ironclad and i locked them up there for the rest of the game.

 

Bray'arth tied down the other squad for several turned eventually winning combat and forcing them to flee. they got to far away and i could not charge them again so the GK libby dropped a S10 votex of doom on bray'arth and killed him.

 

The game ended with me in possesion of 3 objectives and the GKs with 0

 

Victory for me, however i hardly killed anything due to their resiliance. only dropping both the GK dreads, the assasin(flamethrowers are apparently hard to dodge) dreadknight and raven. i lost 2 pods, 1 ironclad, the assault squad and bray'arth
