brotherhood champion?

Recommended Posts

Hi-hope this isnt another silly question but in the rules for the brotherhood champion theres an attack mode called rapier strike, can i use it if he is in close combat with "normal" troops? or is it only for use against independant characters and monstrous creatures?

the wording is a bit unclear...

thanks again! :P

GW realised that no matter if he's on a Dreandought base (or larger!) Canis Wolfborns special rule for attacks was rubbish.

So they decided this itteration to make that particular rule 'better', but removing the BCs base attac stats!

WooT!

Just even more reason why the BC (and Crowe) are rubbish, and hopefully when we get a new dex, they will eithe rbe dropped totally (retconned for all I care!) or fixed.

Thier Digital Weaposn make me /faceplam and hope to win the lottery to buy out GW (and fix this crap) every time I read them. :P

They have their uses. Crowe making Purifiers troops is honestly good enough to justify taking him alone, not to mention he's so underrated that people won't consider him a threat until, depending on how you use him, it's too late. The Bro-Champ is, on principle, the cheapest HQ you can take for Pure Grey Knight lists, something that comes in handy at lower limits, can hide in squads and provide them with an Ld10 Hammerhand while the squad activates their force weapons (and, if the FAQ allows multiple castings of the power to stack, he can potentially make them S6).

For anyone wanting to run a BC as a cheap HQ, why not an OM Inquisitor, with TDa and Psycannon instead?

If it's for a 'pure' GK list, just imagine it as an anchient GK (who's body is weary from battle, that's why the T3! :)) who as per the fluff of the last 'dex, is the GK representative in the OM.

the BC has his uses, i had one incredibly awesome game against orks. the BC charged with a 5 man purifier squad into a orkboy mob. thanks to cleansing flame from the purifiers and the reroll to hit from the BC they killed most of em. my enemy however decided to move his bossbikaz into the combat. killing off my purifiers (they took 3 bikaz with them!) and well.. i let my BC use his defensive stance in every round of combat. thanks to that, i held off a 8 man bossbika squad(well 5, 3 were dead) with him alone unti lthe end of the game. taking away the biggest threat of the ork army i had to face there.

thanks to the annointed blade beeing a nemesis force sword and the iron halo he runs around with a 2+/3++ in combat. if you fail a save.. reroll it thanks to the defensive stance. even though this fella cant attack back. he simply holds the line and binds the enemy so well. hes awesome.

Remember, the Champion is almost guarunteed to make his points back vs MeQ armies. Let him kill a couple models, and then when he dies, use his suicide attack to remove their squad leader or an IC and you've probably just made back his points. 1 wound looks bad at first, but if he had more, it'd be harder for him to blow up and take out expensive characters. If they have a model susceptible to his suicide move in the same combat, they want to make sure they don't kill him, and he'll be left free to carve things up.

Oh the BC is nowhere near as useless as Crowe, but taking a HQ slot, I've never had the design or desire to actualyl field one.

Rerolls on the charge aside, for the points, I'd rather add a Techmarine with 'nades to buff a CC unit, which has the benefit of coming from a slot easier to clear (if only by making Pallies and/or Puri's troops).

Now if the BC has instead been an Elite choice (and a few other changes mentioned in threads elsewhere), I'd be dying to take one, and would probably use them in most lists.

Currently, it's either a GM (if points allow), or a TDA Inq (if they don't). That is, if the slots aren't taken up by Draigo/Crowe/Coteaz/Mordrak...

Know exactly what you mean GL. Keep daydreaming 'what ifs' about the BroChamp and Tech -if they had been Elite choices with up to 3 models per FOC slot. Probably OTT and unfluffy, but they'd be up for consideration more often. There are just too many more appropriate choices vying for the same slot...

Haha! I can't belive you said that. This book's been out what? a month? and you want a new one already? I know that these two models don't have the best rules but that makes me laugh. Quite a lot. I bet BA players weren't saying the same thing when they got their new toys. Also, whats wrong with digital weapons? Titans Herald is in effect when he 'assaults'. Ie, for one round of combat. After that digital lasers work just fine.

You'll  bricks when you see it! ;)

And by new book, I mean 5-10 years down the line when we get our next turn in the sun. If design philosophy hasn't changed too much by then, hopefully they'll be able to sit down and go through all the errors and inconsistencies, and give us a properly deisgned 'dex, and not what feels like a rushed beta version.

Titan's Herald affects rolls to hit, digital lasers to wound... and the sword already grants him re-rolls to wound in every round of combat.
