Apollo Densin
I am looking for the rules to include Deathwatch into an army. So far I have only found a small bit in the chapter approved 2003 and am wondering if there is anything else to look for. From what I have read so far you can only have tactical and devastator marines into deathwatch. Even unofficial codexs would work if they are trustworthy. JamesI
The only official rules I know of are those old Chapter Approved rules. Most people just run Sternguard rules and plaint them up as Deathwatch. Apollo Densin
So no rules to include assault, tech, or librarians to an army then i take it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745148 Share on other sites
jerry
IIRC deathwatch was used as a 10 man kill team then broken down into 5 man squads usually lead by a captain or librarian you can try this link or surf the net. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Deathwatch Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745189 Share on other sites
Growler67
There are no current official rules for Deathwatch inclusion. As stated above, most people substitute Sternguard rules and paint them as Deathwatch. Kill-Teams are generally led by a Captain or Librarian and include Tactical, Assault, Devastator and Terminator Marines. The majority of the team is generally Tactical with the inclusion of one Devastator and occasionally one Assault. The generality of TDA Marines is that a singular marine is assigned to a team, at least in what has been published by the Black Library. There are no hard and fast "official" rules. Until GW decides if and when to provide anything official about the Ordo Xenos, other than the Inquisitor Lords, one is left to figure it out and hope for agreement by ones opponents. Perhaps with the release and apparent level of interest in the Deathwatch RPG, things may change and there may once again be official sanctioning and inclusion of the Deathwatch back into 40K TTG. Perhaps additional glimmers of hope lie in the GK release and the rumored inbound of the SoB Codex. That updates Ordo Malleus and Hereticus and perhaps opens the door for a Xenos Codex down the line. One can only hope but with GW one never knows. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745197 Share on other sites
Apollo Densin
Alright I will probably stick to the deathwatch rules outlined in chapter approved 2003 for now. Kind of sucks because I want to make an army with all 3 main orders. Thank you all for the help Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745234 Share on other sites
KnowThyEnemy
There's always apocalypse . Currently I'm working on some deathwatch items myself. Rules-wise I'm using the sternguard as a basis for the shooty and the vanguard as a basis for the punchy. I figure this would be a larger scale operation, involving a high priority mission. I was thinking of making up a data sheet, with something along the lines of "Pick an enemy HQ or super-heavy after deployment but before the mission starts. This is the deathwatch's mission: eliminate the threat. This enemy counts as an extra scoring objective that may only be claimed by the deathwatch. You must announce you have picked an enemy HQ but not which one you have picked" Deathwatch Kill Team: Deathwatch Captain[imperial Fists/Thousand Sons]- TDA, TH, SS (Captain Lysander with helmet, new shield and hammer) Deathwatch Marine[Knights of Gryphonne]- Pair of Lightning Claws Deathwatch Marine[soul Drinkers]- Pair of Thunderhammers Deathwatch Marine[Dark Sons]- Pair of Power fists Deathwatch Marine[Celestial Lions]- Heavy Bolter Deathwatch Marine[iron Snakes]- Bolter Deathwatch Marine[Red Scorpians]- Bolter Deathwatch Marine[Thousand Sons/Imperial Fists]- Bolter Deathwatch Marine[blood Ravens/Dark Angels]- Plasma gun Deathwatch Marine[ultramarines]- Power Fist, Bolter Deathwatch Marine[Exorcists]- Power Axe, Plasma Pistol Deathwatch Dreadnought[Lamenters]- Librarian Deathwatch Stormraven[Hawk Lords] Deathwatch Jetbike[Angels of Absolution/Blood Ravens]- (Sammuel) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745439 Share on other sites

KnowThyEnemy
yes, yes i do. however, ive found scarab shoulder pads (so thatd be pre-heresy) that look pretty slick. the terminator one especially, got this segmented look going on. i could always come up with another name for them, such as "Sons of Khepera" or "Emperor's Light" or "Emerald Death". either way, still a nice shoulder pad ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/228931-deathwatch-rules/#findComment-2745473 Share on other sites
Lord_Caerolion
Yeah, you should come up with a new Chapter. The 1000 Sons haven't ever been a part of the Deathwatch, and never will be.
