Here is a quick breakdown

Shooting(not accounting for Holocaust)

Termies average 11.6 wounds against T4

Paladins Average 6.4

Assault

Termies deal more wounds Averge 9 I6 PW wounds, 1.7 hammer wounds and 1 Wound from the banner (.33 against MEQ), So 11 wounds against MEQ

Paladains do less 1.3 I6 PW wounds, 4.3 I 4 PW wounds, 2.2 Hammer wounds, same and .44 from the banner (MEQ)= 8.24 wounds.

Paladins are more durable against S7 or less (6 paladins have more wounds, and lose effectiveness more slowly), or any wounds that don't cause instant death.

SO termies kill more, Paladins can survive more. The other bonus to the paladin squad is that 6 termies can ride in a vehicle.

Yeah I favour standard termies, in a 2k list I can have 30 GKT which can split into 6 squads for scoring or stay as a 3x 10 man block of for killpoint games. Also I favour a more focused approach to kit, to be effective the paladins have to have a wide variety of equipment (for wound allocation purposes).
