WIP DA succesor

It's shadow gray. I saw it on some death company on GW's homepage and thought it looked good. I've got 3 other squads of terminators that I'm not using for my current army list I may try your suggestion on one of them first and see how it turns out.

On another note I finished up their power weapons last night so I'll see about getting pics of that up.

I haven't updated in a while but I've made some good progress since the last time I posted. I've now got 7 full squads of terminators fully painted. I've got 3 TH/SH squads, 1 LC squad, and 3 shooty squads. All of them have CMLs. They aren't based yet as I'm still deciding exactly which route I want to go with them. Next up I'll be working on bikes.

Hope you guys like them.

I was really thinking about dropping some money on these.

Or Ellis_Esquire told me how to make the bases like he's got in this thread.

I'm just deciding which I want to do while I finish painting up the rest of my army.

Figured I'd post a pic of all of my currently assembled models. I've still got a little bit of un-assembled stuff too. I've got 18 robed marines and 5 sniper scouts, and Sammy on jetbike still in the box. So all in all I've got roughly 1/3 of the deathwing, 1/2 a battle company, a ravenwing battleforce, 2 LR/C's, 2 dreads, and a razorback.

Eventually I'd like to get another ravenwing battle force(or 2) and some more vehicles and I think I'll be set.

Some new updates. Ard Boys caused me to step up my painting and get my army finished in time so I've got my bikes/speeder/LRC's finished now. At some point I'll take a nicer picture of my whole 2500 point army(probably next time I'm at the store) but for now check out my finished bikes/raiders.

As always critiques welcome. My next plans is to get my dreads and attack bikes done. I think I can wait on my powered armor dudes until I actually plan on using them in a game. I'll probably end up adding more to my termies and bikes before then though.

I wanted to go really intense with highlights and accent colors or the whole force would look just way too dark with all that black. I know a couple people in this forum have much better looking DA overall but I for the time investment I think they came out pretty good and I've gotten a lot of comments about how good the force looks on the table top. For example the raider took me about 2-3 hours each to finish. I could do by the end a whole termie squad in a night. The nice thing is I just never really have to stop and wait for stuff to dry because I could just move on to painting a different section of the model then go back to the other sections once they dried.

@Stobz

I've got sammy on jetbike cleaned up for the most part but I just haven't tackled building him yet. I just really hate working with metal. I know his finecast version is supposed to be coming out in the next major finecast wave some I'm kind of waiting till then.

Manager at my local GW liked my army so he asked if he could get some pics of it. Who knew a smart phone takes much better pictures than my digital camera?

Don't forget to vote for what I paint next. Options are Sammy on jetbike, tactical squad, or dreadnought. So far we have 1 vote for Sammy from captain semper.

I finished the dread a couple days after you guys finished voting but haven't gotten around to taking pictures until now.

This guy isn't venerable so I decided not to make him super fancy. The next one will have more cool icons on it.

I've also come up with a painted basing scheme that I wanted your guys feedback on. (Although I just got a new job so I can afford those resin bases now...grr)

gallery_33390_6088_3058043.jpg

Since I'll have some increased income I'm not sure what I want to do with my force. I could buy some resin bases for all my guys, but I've been wanting to buy some predators and more speeders to get my force more competitive. I wish I knew when our new codex was coming out then it would make my decision a lot easier. As for what to paint I'll probably paint all my terminator bases after I hear feedback from you guys and follow that up with Sammy on his jetbike.

Anyway thanks to everyone who's commented on my stuff.

This Dreadnought c/c weapon is the coolest! Well done Droma!

Regarding the bases for the termies, I think it a great idea and well executed. Forget the resin bases! Your alternative is great! Save the money for more minis! :P

I knew I could count on you to pop into this thread eventually Captain S. That's actually a bad angle for the CC weapon on the dread it looks better from not directly in front, you have a hard time seeing the blending that close up and from that angle.

As for the bases I agree with you for now, more models is probably the way to go with the money. However when I finish my collection I'll probably pick some up lol. Thinking about going to a tourney coming up in march though so I need to pick up two more speeders and two predators before then. Pics of fully based army next time I stop in the store and probably pics of the speeders/preds once I get them done.

They keep a personal guard of the most battle hardened and dedicated of their soldiers and equip them in some of the best equipment available. Now they continue to expand their holdings and prepare for the inevitable day when they face their former brethren again. It will be a bloody day indeed when brother once again fights brother.
