Loathir's Own
Me and my gaming group are going to be doing a table and some other things for our adepticon team. I was reading that our chapter serfs assist with ship to ship combat as defensive reactors, because our wolf brothers will all be boarding the enemies ship and that our serfs should not be underestimated. 1. What models would you use to represent them? 2. What codex would you use to represent them? 3. Would they fight alongside of the actual battle brothers on the ground or would they just "chill" on the ship? Reason being I would like to buy a Bane Blade and would like to be able to use it. I have seen people do this before but I never understood weather the thing was piloted by SWs or by the Chapter serfs or weather it was just someone saying, " I want that." The other thing is that I can't really afford to buy a plethora of items from forgeworld, but what other Super Heavy/ Apoc vehicle/ datasheet would you suggest as a Fellow Wulfin. Other than the obvious, Thawk or Sturmwulfen Datasheet? My group likes to play big games about once every three months, so when my SWs are ready I would like to be able to join in on the carnage. Thanks Again L'sOwn Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229037-space-wolves-chapter-serfs/ Share on other sites
hendrik
we don't use servitors like other chapter do. Instead we use bondsmen, who willingly joined our chapter but were found unfit to become space wolves. take a read at wolf's honour. it's quite elaborate about our bondsmen ;) and welcome pup! have an ale! Border Prince
Chaos marauders with Catatchan arms and bitz look suitably like the Sci-Fi Viking infantry I imagine the Bondsmen as. Alternatively, Cadians with Greenstuffed fur, wolfy bitz, hairy heads and/or Catatchan arms. Perhaps an mix of all this. Take the Imperial Guard Codex for them. commander alexander
I would use catachan and other IG units, but the catachan in particular, because even our serfs are awesome! Loathir's Own
Do they use chimeras or fight on the ground or are they just ship to ship combatants. Thank you for letting me know about wolf's honor I will give it a read shortly. I was going to do a bridge crew so that helps me incredibly now I won't make the mistakes of having servitors as the bridge crew. I know chapter serfs fight with ultra marines every once in a while and the it has happened with other chapters like the BT, although just like neophytes they die horribly. I figured that the Shadow Sword that I get, I would put some bondsmen/ serfs with it. Maybe in a Rhino/ Razorback. Just for Apoc though, I was thinking that they would be, Henchmen from GK now that I have been looking at them more often. Jonas Stromclaw
Mostly bondsmen crew ships and take part in boarding actions, but they did take part when the Thousand Sons legion invaded (Primarch + entire legiones astartes vs. Bjorn the Fellhanded and the janatorial staff... guess who won?). Imperial Guard would be a good codex to use since Fenrisians wouldn't mind "borrowing" all the extra kit. If you want to go all out modelling them then lots of beards and axes. I somehow get the feeling that Fenrisian tribesmen would like shotguns too, a lot. Schertenleib
Space Vikings with BOOMSTICKS! Gotta love it! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229037-space-wolves-chapter-serfs/#findComment-2747273 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
I somehow get the feeling that Fenrisian tribesmen would like shotguns too, a lot. It bothers me that our scouts can't have shotguns or use bikes... Anyways. Prospero Burns and some others from the Space Wolf Omnibus mention our bondsmen wearing form fitting skin-suits. I guess like spandex almost? Fantastic Four (movie) comes to mind. I believe it's mentioned that this is the same "underclothing" that SMs wear between their armor and their bodies. They're a soft grey material (blue-grey or grey-grey, take your pick) and I believe they're adorned/embellished/accompanied with pelt cloaks or leather vests, etc. I'm a bit torn on the beards. If you go by Space Wolf Omnibus, Blood Claws aren't allowed to grow beards til they're inducted as Grey Hunters. Being these bondsmen are a space vessel crew (primarily) I would almost give them shorn head (aka peach fuzz, five-o'clock shadow, etc) or something akin to the Chaos Marauder Horsemen heads (this one in particular) to make them feel more sterile and.. astronauty... As for vehicle crews, there's a fine line since it has become indoctrinated into our codeces that our vehicles are manned by special divisions of Grey Hunters (motor pool squads?) and it's from the GH stats that we get our vehicle BS, etc. Since bondsmen aren't even Blood Claws, or space marines for that matter, justifying them to crew these monstrous vehicles seems a bit unfair. If they were being herded around by a chief crewman (GH ..or Iron Priest), then I could see it. I would consider them similar to servitors in that situation. I wouldn't give them SM weaponry though (without keeping in mind their normal human limitations). The heft of a chainsword or power weapon would seem excessive to a simple crewman. Even if given an IG-equivalent sized weapon, you've got to think of how to justify why these low status (in melee hierarchy) bondsmen are being bestowed treasured imperial artifacts. Simple daggers and axes and maybe the occasional laspistol or three would be the route I'd go. In this regard, I'd look at IG Penal Legion squads for baseline stats. Forté
Beards would be fine as they are pre gene seed and would want the extra hair against the cold. Bare in mind that guard tanks are built for there size. A marine in armour would be too big to get in. Max_Dammit
I'm planning 750 points of this just so i can use my LRE, but remember that this is a power armour board only, so we cant go in to detail about the IG dex and its units.
