jamesknouse
I wanted a unique Space Wolf Dreadnought that was all about "Flame and Claws". The models name is "Wolf Mother" He is a Venerable Wolf Dreadnougt. I am modeling him around this pic. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/werewolfpic.jpg First I need to make the feet. This is what I am using to build them. I want to make Wolf Mother standing like the pic above. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/backlegparts.jpg Next I need to drill some holes to run pins http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/backfootdrillhole.jpg Next bend my pins to the correct position and attach. I add a "toe" or two! http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/backfoorwithclaws.jpg next I add a leg. The leg come from a new ork dread model. I added the foot. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/backlegwithfootattached.jpg next I add the claws for the back foot. I cut these from plastic card http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/backlegwithfootandclawattached.jpg I wasnt happy with how the rear foot and claws were looking so I continued cutting and chopping resulting in a more suitable wolfie look. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/CLOSEUPREARLEGSMODIFIED.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/RGTWMTHRLEFTLEG.jpg This is the rear left leg. I am positioning it at an angle to give the model a sense of movement. In the end I want this Wolfdread looking like he is howling at the moon. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/REARLFTLEGHINDVIEW.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/WLFMTHRLEGS.jpg when finally I attach the rear legs to the torso I want them in this position. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/WOLFMTHRLEGSPOSITIONED.jpg rear legs next to torso and my old school Bjorn http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/WOLFMTHRLEGSNEXTTOBODYANDBJORN.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229056-wolfnought/ Share on other sites
jamesknouse
I made these rear leg joints a bit back. All they consist of are washers from a hardware store, coffee straws and old tubing cut down and fitted together. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/LEGJOINT.jpg The torso is from the 40k box set. I cut he legs off it and will use them later. For now I attach the leg joint by pinning and glue. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/REARLEGJOINTATTACHEDTOTORSO.jpg This is the rear leg, joint and torso attached http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/space%20wolf/TOSOWNECKSOCKETLEGANDLEGJOINT.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229056-wolfnought/#findComment-2747210 Share on other sites
jamesknouse
I add Storm Shields to the hip to give a little more girth to the model... http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/shield.jpg Also adding these. Not sure excactly what they are but the are from an orc dread. Giving the model more hip and rear! Baby got back! http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/sideviewwithshield.jpg this is a rear side view with the Storm Shield and rear "fenders" attached. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/rearsidewithrearlegwells.jpg Now I am building my left arm. Eventually it will end in a lightning claw. Parts list. Items from standard marine dread and ork dread. Then some plastic card stock and a piece of an old bic ink pen. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/armparts.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/platicard.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/Ballpointpenbarrel.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229056-wolfnought/#findComment-2747214 Share on other sites

jamesknouse
Now I just fit and pin pieces together http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/bicarmconstruction.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/armjoint.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/armjoincomplete.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/forearm.jpg Arm assembled and attached to "Wolf Mother" http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/rearendwells.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/sideviewwshiledandarmsweptback.jpg I am pretty pleased with this build so far. I am thinking I will run him with Bjorn stats since he is turning into such a monster! Had a few drinks tonight and decided to build some more... I added a Plasma Cannon. It is magnetic so I can swap out if I want. I believe this PC is from an IG tank http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/d91f9661.jpg Side view with it mounted http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/ca70f072.jpg And as it always happens with me I need to change things... I change the axle that connects Wolf Mothers legs. I used another Bic Pen tube. This change allows for a more narrow leg span and he now fits on a standard Dreadnought base, well almost. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/44f5c4c8.jpg Next the head. Two Forge World spare flamers and an Ork dread Chain claw. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/5c6e8c38.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/4b305ce8.jpg I cut them down http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/ec9f64c0.jpg and pinned them together http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/e744ca97.jpg Since Wolf Mother is basically a walking sarcophagus I wanted to make a sorta of marine coffin on top of Wolf Mother. When I paint this it will look like an ornate coffin lid or I could just leave it armour as is and make a story that this was his original armour and just mounted to the outside of Wolf Mother. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/caeec4ed.jpg Mounted a few more storm shields for some extra bling. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/f43e47a4.jpg now when assembled Wolf Mother is starting to take shape. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/9e1a520a.jpg I still have a lot of work left. I need to still add his Lightning Claw and putty up the cracks. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/fd155192.jpg Side by side with the classic Bjorn Dreadnought. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/61c3feda.jpg So what do you guys think? Pretty close to my build pic. http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/fd155192.jpg http://i825.photobucket.com/albums/zz173/jamesknouse/werewolfpic.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229056-wolfnought/#findComment-2747217 Share on other sites
jamesknouse
The marine body plastered to the front isn't meant to be the eyes of Wolf Mother. The armour will be painted as a suit either built onto the armour as decoration or I will green stuff it and turn it into a coffin lid mural thing. The kind of thing you see on old tomb lids. Retributis
Amazing work, but the only issue I have is that the feet look a bit... weedy. Sort of more like hanging chandeliers than clawed feet. the Fell Hand
Absolutely amazing!! I can't wait to see this finished. I'm terrible at mechanical stuff. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229056-wolfnought/#findComment-2747366 Share on other sites
jamesknouse
I will be adding more to the face, a lightning claw and some meat to the feet. I built it to the level i was inspired at the moment. None of the bits I have currently laying around really lend to any of the three I mentioned. Funny thing about this model is that it was supposed to be my Iron Priest model and I got a little carried away! Iron Priest will be after this one. Thanks for the positive comments guys. Soulblight
I love the creativity at work here! The thing i like the most is that the flamers and the orc claw really fits together and creates something that "face-like"! Good work, i will keep looking for updates on this one! cathar the great
Great work. Though it might have looked better if it had another combat arm instead of the Plasma Cannon. You could still mount the Cannon in the arm but right now it doesn't look like the thing could really run that quickly (or at all).
