Diavlo
Greetings everyone. I know it's not the painting and modeling part of forum, but I have only Dark Angels models therefore I think i may find some help here. I have an ambitious project of creating whole DW, RW and 3rd company. I already have 100 terminators so first thing done. At the moment i have only 12 bikes and 3 land speeders, but im hoping to expand those soon. I wan't all of them look like those in 4th ed codex, with minimum differences. I like realistic look and i don't belive that every model should have battle damage all over. Overall they are space marines they have to take care of their armor before they go to battle they are not orcs. The problem is that im not a pro painter, I'm learning how to paint on the way. This is my RW that I'm experimenting with: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/3691/p5060002.jpg I'm thinking about red headlights to those bikes, but i can't get convincing look. Any ideas? Also for my DW I have already based them with skeleton bone army painter spray. Now I'm thinking about next steps. Maybe sephia or devlan mud for darker areas at joints, then highlight with ??. I have checked many tutorials and those sites from here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...p;#entry1787719 Still I haven't found any tutorials that include base coating with army painter skeletone bone and i don't want to use their dips I have already used a shortcut with that spray. Any help appreciated. incarnus
Still I haven't found any tutorials that include base coating with army painter skeletone bone and i don't want to use their dips I have already used a shortcut with that spray. http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1935...wing-terminator This method uses the AP Quickshade, but you could use a regular sepia wash to the same effect. Diavlo
Ok this is my DW WIP. Any suggestions how to make it look better? I saw a tutorial somwhere how to make glowing eyes, they looked pretty good, but still i can't get that effect. Therefore eyes aren't pretty. There is really bad light so i had to use flash. Bryan Blaire
Washes on the metal with Badab Black and possibly on the crevices on the helm and cowl behind the helm with Devlan Mud would help some, and a layer of highlights with Skull White (or if you are more ambitious and want to do some layers, try 2:1 Bleached Bone:Skull White, 1:1 Bleached Bone:Skull White, and the only use pure Skull White for point highlighting at the points of edges) will help give it some added depth. For the metal, go back over after the Badab wash and highlight with Boltgun and then Chainmail to help there. That Thunderhammer looks great though! I want to find that tutorial people are using to do that effect. It looks awesome and you have done it well. For the glowing eyes, you are going to need to use very thin layers of probably an orange (it looks like your eyes are red) to do the source lit areas around the eyes. Personally, I don't worry about that, but I agree it does look cool, but for table top models as opposed to display ones, you may not see that level of detail much. All I can say is keep practicing at it and brushing up on tutorials for it.
