smellyfox
Hi folks. I am just brainstorming ideas for Sammael's LS and I think I'm going to try this out. Has anyone tried using this Forgeworld kit before? Would be inspiring to hear some ideas. I'm thinking of adapting a razorback turret for the twin linked heavy bolters. Also is it best to cut resin after warming it slightly in water, or would you do it cold? Many thanks! Tanhausen
Is there some reason you want Sammy's LS to be bigger than a conventional LS? I really liked the "closed cabin" concept in our thread ( couldn't find the author's thread, maybe somebody can help out locating it). As for the turret, I think it might look a bit too bulky... why not try something on the "hood" of the LS? Dry-fitting and image-managing programs are your friends there. As for cutting resin... its difficult to cut, very very hard. Its usually easier to snap it or cut your fingers, so if you really need to, I suggest clampling the piece to the table. Grand Master Belial
Depending on how cold the resin may become more brittle and break during the vigors of sawing. Room temp is fine in most cases. Too warm and you could mash dawn the fine detail as the resin will become soft. As to the H Bolters, do you plan to place them where the Tempest has it's Missile Launchers on each side of the cockpit? Haven't thought of using the Tempest for Sammael's ride mainly because of the closed in cockpit. But that might help explain his higher armor save Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229188-ls-tempest/#findComment-2749106 Share on other sites
smellyfox
Tanhausen Ha! Yeah it will be bigger I suppose. Reflects the AV14 in quite a fluffy way tho was more the line I was thinking. I don't play much these days but like a bit of modelling. Plus I'm way better at converting vehicles than marines so I figure this could be a good way of working with the strengths! Yeah good idea on the turret. I don't think I'll decide on that fully until I have the model in my hands. GMBelial I'll bear that in mind about the resin. I've got some offcuts to play with, I'll do some experimenting. Will see where good for the bolters when I've had a look at the model, I have no clue as yet. Tanhausen
(imagine the scene) Empty cases bouncing off the hood, while the assault cannon whirrs under the nose with an auto-linked PotMS. Dang, now I'm all wound up...and I play Sammy in bike ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229188-ls-tempest/#findComment-2749123 Share on other sites
Bringer of Redemption
I really liked the "closed cabin" concept in our thread ( couldn't find the author's thread, maybe somebody can help out locating it). That would be ODM. He used plasticard to make the cockpit, rather than a tempest, but it ended up looking really impressive. --BoR Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229188-ls-tempest/#findComment-2749272 Share on other sites

Isiah
I love the Tempest model. I'll keep a careful eye to see how this project develops. Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229188-ls-tempest/#findComment-2750290 Share on other sites
smellyfox
The model arrived today! Very excited!!! It looks like the twin assault cannon barrels will fit perfectly in the gap where the single tempest assault cannon goes. And the heavy bolters should look great where the missile launchers are! Very little resin cutting required it seems.... Will post some pics once I've got the thing built. smellyfox
OK some resin cutting required for the assault cannons! Wood carving tools seem to work a treat for manipulating the resin.
