Black Templar drop pod & Squad

I'm doing a Drop Pod & squad to give me a bit of firepower if I need it, without using a rhino. The shooting squad (Eight bolters, two shotguns) are so damn boring I decided on a slightly different take on the paint job - Flame rims for the calf armour and the same on the five doors. Hopefully, not so much that it detracts from the BT paint scheme, but enough that it makes them less boring to look at/build. The idea being that they're a dedicated drop pod unit, with the focus being ranged weaponry rather than the main portion of my army, which is (literally) about ten ranged weapons per 40 troops.

I need to work on the flame on that panel, and of course, the rest - And then the troops.

So far so good!

The only issue with a flame motif on the bottom is that the pod might look like it's going through re-entry, rather than having "bottom art." But having the same thing on the squad might help convey what you're going for.

Maybe painting some other kind of scenery beneath those flames would help sell the effect... something like various crushed and fallen heretics, representing whoever's about to be on the business end of that drop pod. ;)

Aye, I see what you mean. I might invest in some Chaos marines to butcher and actually base the Drop pod.
