Blackrime
So, I was reading over the rules and just wanted to make sure I was reading something right. Wolf Guard can join packs as pack leaders, and one Wolf Guard per pack can take Mark of the Wulfen. Now, when you look at Grey Hunter options, it says one Grey Hunter per pack can also take Mark of the Wulfen. Does this mean that you can have two models per pack (assuming you've attached your WG Pack Leader to said pack) dealing out D6 + 1 attacks + 1 for assault/counterattack and possible + 1 for second weapon (as the MotW rules state that it is the attacks characteristic that is replaced, as opposed to total sum of attacks), all of which are rending? Also, am I correct in deducing I can put 3 meltas in a squad of Grey Hunters, using the same WG Pack Leader addition and giving him a combi melta (Grey Hunter options state that the squad has to number 10 models, it doesn't say all 10 of those models have to be Grey Hunters)? -Also, planning on updating the story either tonight or tomorrow night. Would have gotten to it sooner, but I've been painting all week and rocking out finals. ^_^ If you enjoyed the last episode, LOOK FORWARD THIS WEEK TO SOME KILLIN' IN THE NAME OF THE ALLFATHER. Leonaides
Grey Hunter options state that the squad has to number 10 models, it doesn't say all 10 of those models have to be Grey Hunters If you have 10 grey hunters, then yes you can do this. Wolf guard pack leader sint attached until the battle - so when you choose your list the squad would only have 9 models in it, so only the 1 upgraded gun. (if I understand you correctly). I assume the intention here is to keep them to 10 models on the battlefield so they can fit in a Rhino? Wulfebane
Wolf Guard are not considered one of the Grey Hunter pack, only joined to it. Therefore, they do not count toward GH body count, instead they count toward WG body count. Example: You have 2 GH packs and 5 WG in power armor. 2 of those WG join each GH pack as a pack leader. They are still considered a part of the 5 WG, and are not including with the GH count. As such, you can only have 1 WG with MotW per pack, and since WG pack composition is 3-10 models per, you can have multiple packs of 3, each pack containing 1 MotW. With the example above, of the 5 WG you have (including pack leaders) only 1 of them can have MotW, since you cannot divide a pack of 5 into 2 packs without one pack being a man short. You will not be allowed a 2nd WG with MotW until you have atleast 6 WG in your list (3 per pack). Regarding the meltas, as stated above, WG do not tally into the GH body count, so you will need a full roster of 10 GH models before you can claim a second meltagun. If you bring 10 GH and a WG pack leader (a pack of 11 models), then yes you may have 2 meltas and 1 combi-melta (WG pack leader). With this composition, however, the only transport you will fit into is a land raider redeemer/crusader. maverik_girl
IMHO it's more logical/practical and not to mention tactically speaking, to give the wolf guard pack leader, a power fist or power weapon/frost blade, than have his potential wasted on a mark of the wulfen. You need 10 Grey Hunters to get the special weapon bonus. I have several newbie questions that may help you... And questions you may already be asking yourself, the thread shouldn't be hard to look up. Hope it helps, as it did others including myself. Voracioustigger
You are correct that MotW replaces the Attacks characteristic, but you conveniently stopped reading there.... "These attacks... are not affected by wargear, ADDITIONAL HAND WEAPONS and so on." Therefore, no MotW with Powerfists or extra weapons. It's D6+1 + Charge/Countercharge bonus... that's it!
