Zepheal - the Fallen Psycher

Recommended Posts

Recently during my travels through the warp I came upon these concept drawings and model. You can see on the shoulderpad that the Marine is named Zepheal. And the Icongraphy and Black Armor can only mean that it is intended to be the main character from the two Dark Angel HH novels, Zepheal the fallen Psycher.

Over in the development section, where we are talking about submitting our own B & C Dark Angels codex to GW, kind of as a "this is what we'd like to see" request, for our next codex. I've been making the argument that I think it would be good if GW included a 'new' Fallen Character in the codex. We've all seen how in 2nd edition when Cypher was first introduced, how it has enriched the DA, our background and our fluff. I think that a "new" Fallen character would present to GW an opportunity to further flesh out both our present and our past. Astelan is another example of a fallen character that has enriched us as well. It's for those reason's I've proposed that we include a new fallen as part of our proposed codex. Zepheal, being only one possibilities (all be it an awesome one). Please take a look at this wonderful model and the sketches yourself.

Where in Luthor's name is his sword, if you truely want to conect with the fluff only he and the lion had ever killed a canabilite lion in single combat. He looks great as a "normal pre-heresy model" but i don't really see the psycher aspect of him represented very well, don't get me wrong i like the model. I don't like who he is supposed to be in that incaration. Apologies if i came off being harsh it is only my opinion.

Indeed to me he doesn't look at all 'Psykerish'... I love the concept sketches but somehow the model isn't doing anything for me (something to do with the overall proportion and the wooded pose maybe) that said, it's an epic build so kudos to whoever did it.

Cheers

Isn't. "Crusader" armor a little WHFBish anyways? It would be appropriate for a fallen to have MkIII armor.

I do think if they had gone with a. "Proper" stormshield the model would be a bit improved. Love the cloak however, painting is quite good, the chestplate in the sketch pops, and the helmet is awesome. Id be static if they did some similar chestplates and helmets for a new Elite DA squad.

I had totally forgot about the Lions tooth sword. Boy, that would look awesome. Give him the proper fluff sword and swap in the right shield...hoooo....boy.

That would make a fantastic HQ model for GW to do. Just imagine all the conversion options the model would provide. Still can't understand why someone would not want a fallen IC to be in a new DA Dex. Add in the addition benefit it would afford GW to fleshout more of our background. I think its a win/win. Just look what Cypher has meant.

While cool, this guy doesn't appear to have any connection to the Horus Heresy novels: the two psykers we've been introduced to there are Israfael and Zahariel. He also doesn't appear to be a psyker in the slightest. Over all, a cool model, and the chest plate reminds me of a Mk 4 piece, which I would love to see some love given to in our next "unique" plastic set.
The model looks cool, but he doesn't look like he belongs in the 41st millennium. However, if models like this encourage GW to bring out more of the story behind the Dark Angels, then I'm all for it.

*cough* The model is based off a 31st millennium, where they were knightly marines.

I really like the fact that the individual that put this model together, was on top of the scheme at the time.

I wish I could paint that well... Not this week though.

Whoever created this model should be applauded for his ability's. And we should take what we can from his skills and apply them to our individual modeling...

I am personally working on a Pre heresy DA/DW Apothecary symbol. OK, I need better glasses.

I think the concept sketches are a little more representative. Although you only really get to see the cap and such in the painted model. I just really appreciate the developmental depth that the fallen present to us. Would love to see a real Fallen Psycher model done by GW. The bits from that sucker would show up every where.
