SW player endgame

Recommended Posts

Basically, I want to get a fully painted army that I can draw what I wish from for a variety of lists. And since I have a terrible time with magnets, this is most likely lots and lots of GH and WG models with all the options...

Magnets are really easy to use if you have the right tools (accelerant is the key)

I just have trouble manoeuvering things that small with my tools. They keep sticking to the knife tip.

Use a toothpick or anything non-metal to push them into place. Also, if you get a drill bit to match the exact diameter of your magnet, you can wedge it into place without necessarily needing glue.

Story Of my life, not much left on top, it all migrated to my face.

but it does make youlook a bit like this head from the space wolf sprue:

http://www.thewarstore.com/product50302.html the one at the bottom right :P

Very true, I keep my hair that way too. But honestly, I miss my mohawk. Too be a pup again...

Today was a step in the right direction for part of my endgame, which is to field my wolves effectively. I took on two of my friends, and I was far and away ahead when we had to end the game early due to children. I actually could see my strategy work despite my horrible dice rolls (2 long fangs out of 5 actually hitting something)

It is a good feeling when you really start to get it when playing your Wolves.

despite amazing rolling on my oponent's side my wolf lord in termie armor and what was left of his squad (2 dudes with meltas ,one of em had mark of wulfen) managed to hold till the end of the game against a squad of 5 termies ,having killed 3 by the very end, 1 by the raving loonie and 2 by the lord.

Feels good to know that eventually one will be able to mitigate the effects of bad rolling with strategy and squad composition.

For me it was first to have a solid 2k painted list that I could take to tournaments and have at least a chance of winning. After I painted my first few models I knew I had way more to learn before I even attempted such a feet as a 2k list.

Now I am still learning and know I always will be but I have about a 2.5k list painted, My endgame goal as far as models go would be to have every at least one playable option from each selection the codex and then to repaint some of my earlier stuff.

For the hobby I would like to make it to the Vegas Grand Tournament in North America.

Vrox

A full painted Great Company, a trio of Thunderhawks, all the Special Characters, an extra 30ish Wolf Gaurd, and about 6,000pts of IG backup. All painted, based, and sitting in a running shelf ready to go.

At that point, Id be "done". Wich would mean I wouldnt feel compelled to pick up anything else for gaming, but might for painting now and again.

  • 3 weeks later...

To me I want in the end 1 or 2 thunderhawk gunship, a wolguard army with landraiders all painted. To until now, I only got 6 wolguard terminator squads painted and 1 landraider achilles, 2 crusaders and 2 landraiders painted.

Thunderhawk is maybe coming next year.

Think the next step is a super heavy, golden handshake comes in September and I'm wondering if I can sneak a titan past Cerberus (I mean the missus)

good luck sneaking one of these past. You know the 'Mrs' (as in everyone's because I know what mines like) can spot a new purchase, even with the packaging in the bin and the contents mixed in your bits box!

Endgame? I dont think Id stop even after the Wolftime.

So far I got 2k worth of army, what makes me unsatisfied is the fact that I run several models in similar poses and components, the wolves are meant to be pretty individualized and most of mine arent! So Im gonna keep going till every model is a character, visually!

After that well see, Im hoping to get into tournaments and winning them once I have beaten all kinds of enemy lists, many as possible till I feel confident enough!

The reason I first got to liking the Wolves is, like many others, the that they resemble the Vikings and perhaps even Celtic tribes of old. Particularly the Viking part has taken my fancy, as far as I know Vikings were part of my heritage! Edit: Did I mention Im 100% Swedish? :D

I am a Viking and as such Space Wolves makes more than perfect sense to me. That, and the fact that I can grow a pretty mean dark brown beard in a matter of weeks!!!

I do run 1 or 2 side armies, my friend challenged me to do an army based around the badab war, hes doing astral claws - tyrants legion, and Im doing Carcharodons, or Space Sharks if you will. We had a mini-demon event at our local GW store last weekend and me and my friend painted Lugft Huron and Tyberos the Red Wake respectively. Im also doing High Elves for fantasy.

But my wolves will always come first hand anything else is just so I can game with something else on friends requests.

This! Except for the hundred percent part, I've got a little norwegian and italian in me. I don't feel that it helps the inner wolf aspect. I'm almost as partial to fits of focused rage as the wolf lord blackmane himself, though its never directed at a friend.

My ultimate goal is to field a company worthy of Blackmane and my Primarch.

I'd like to finish painting and converting all my SW models, to a level that I'm happy with.

Beyond that... well, a few more "neat" conversions maybe, and some FW goodness. Maybe another Land Raider.

Gaming wise, I'd like to get my Wolves back into the local clubs campaign but for now I'm to busy being Master of Chaos for them!

EDIT: I'd also like to do a SW BFG Fleet, possibly using the rules that allow me to use both SM and IN forces. As we have that habit of "borrowing" ships...

This is an interesting thread good idea.

I want a full terminator logan wing drop pod army, cause wolf termies are my favorite model.

Also I want a 2k balanced list w/grey hunters, long fangs, lone wolves, wolf guard ect.. for tournaments. (almost done with this part)

Then I will make an O&G fantasy army cause i love the humor in their army.

Eventually I want to make an army with my son who is 5 right now.

So no end in sight.

Oh and I want GW thunder wolves dang it.
