sponsra
Hi all! Posting some pics from my ongoing terrain-building project. All the blue parts are stryofoam and the rest is random pieces of plastic, and some GW parts. I´ll be painting next weekend... First, everything http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/all.jpg then the backdoor to one of the buildings http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/back-door.jpg And some fall-down-road http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/bridg01.jpg The pillars for the bridge http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/bridge.jpg The other building http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/hus.jpg And some pods to use as objectives http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/sponsra/Pics/pods_1.jpg I´m really looking forward to painting this! Will post pics as soon as I do.. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229431-building-new-terrain-from-styrofoam/ Share on other sites
Peacekeeper
Very nice, I really like the road. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229431-building-new-terrain-from-styrofoam/#findComment-2752738 Share on other sites
Ferro
Buildings are good--they're big LOS blockers and very good looking; that road is awesome. Good work!! falkus kibre
This is awesome! I love the bridge, do you think you could post a tutorial on how you acheived this? sponsra
Thank you. I dont have any WIP-pics, but I´ll describe the process. I slice the styrofoam in 10-15mm slices with a bandsaw. It gives a great, concrete-like texture. I then use a hobby-knife, cutting board, and steel ruler, and cut boards for the different parts of the buildings, roads, and pillars. They are glued together with pva-glue (stronger stuff will melt the styrofoam). Cracks, bullet holes, and general wear and tear ar created with the knife, my hands, and a tweezer (for bullet-holes). The cracks are made with the blunt back of the knife blade. The detailing are made with some GW-parts, but mostly random plastic stuff that I´ve colected. I advice you to take apart a printer -lots of to-scale-machinery in there :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229431-building-new-terrain-from-styrofoam/#findComment-2754357 Share on other sites
Lysimachus
That bridge is brilliant! Although, it would look a little odd to have 2 supports in the middle of the table with a single fallen span between them, maybe you should build a(t least one) ramp section to join the bridge back with ground level? Or enough bridge sections (either with complete spans or fallen in) to cross the width of a standard board? That would be amazing! The other bits are very cool too, love the objectives! sponsra
Yeah... I guess a ramp would be too big, but more fallen sections is a great idea to make it more realistic.. mrtn
Looking great. You could make a fallen pillar for the road as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229431-building-new-terrain-from-styrofoam/#findComment-2755184 Share on other sites
WNxKilljoy
Sandbags could be a possibility. Makeshift Imperial defenses, stubber nest, strewn weapons and ammo boxes etc. Another tip; wall filler. Makes great concrete effects! Looking good though! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229431-building-new-terrain-from-styrofoam/#findComment-2755208 Share on other sites
