Using the examples he gave seemed a reasonable start. These were extremes of particular approaches pased on the two power-armoured veteran units in the codex. I don't think these are principles which can usefully be called 'List building 101'. Versatility is the key, in my view, not over specialisation. We have quite a lot of experience, individually and more especially as a community fighting in different ways and against different opponents and different armies. I'd be very surprised if there really is a single 'Grand Master' player with an unbeatable army building technique better than the accumulated wisdom of the forum.
