Gibious
Ok first I will point out that I am a cheap person. Its a good life, helps me afford the more luxurious things in life like heating and food =) Selling my 500pts of Inducted Guard and purchased the new Codex off ebay. I have been playing quite a few battles using only the models I already own. Now I used to run a simple 3 man Terminator retinue for my BC or GM. This retinue consisted of: GKT With Psycannon GKT with storm Bolter GKT with converted HH & SS (side note, enough without wound allocation, the different load outs make them slightly more resillent as one termi would fail more than one save but the others will not be harmed) The SS was converted by Barbaricaly hacking off the Bolter and putting a circle cut out of Lamination. Now SS can not be purchased, i kinda need that storm bolter back... I also got a new box of Termis for Christmas (My in-laws dont suck!) The plan is to pin (not glue) the gun arms so they can be swappable. This would leave me with: 1x DH Termi 2x Halberd Justicar Termis 3x Sword Termis 4x Halberd Termis (Intend to covert another to DH, possibly create 3 falcions that can be added to the Sword Termis) 4x Psycannons 2x Incinerators 7x Storm Bolters 1x SS Anyone with two sticks for brains can probably see my problem now. I will have to field at least one squad of Paladins as I do not have enough Storm Bolters to field 10 troop termies. Options I see at the moment: -Suck it up and focus all future lists around a 550pt Elite core, convert SS arm to ?Narc? -Take spare vehicle StormBolter and rettach to arm -Keep as SS convert one Termi to Draigo, take 9 Paladins as 5-4/5-2-2/5-1-1-1-1 -Gib- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/ Share on other sites
Vash
If your good at converting and salvaging part (as any cheap gamer should be), I would go for option 2, take spare parts from vehicles. Mordrak
The plan is to pin (not glue) the gun arms so they can be swappable. This would leave me with: I've glued the arms on and magnetised the hands...it's a lot simpler than you think and still allows to use all the weapon options, I'll be putting a tutorial up on my blog in a few days with some pics if your interested Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/#findComment-2755257 Share on other sites
Godhead
You will have one set of extra arms with a stormbolter in the new terminator set. You should be able to just pop the arms off the old terminator and replace with plastic arms and shoulder pads. (assuming you use the psycannon from the termie set) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/#findComment-2755289 Share on other sites
Foolio_Displasius
I would go with Draigo. It probably gives you the best chance to use the biggest amount of the models & guns you already have. That is, unless you really fancy going some other route. But if you want to do something different, you're going to need different models. :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/#findComment-2755540 Share on other sites
Gibious
Thank you everyone. I appreciate all comments even if I dissagree with them  If your good at converting and salvaging part (as any cheap gamer should be), I would go for option 2, take spare parts from vehicles. Yeah this does seem like my only option, just a pity that the Vehicle SB looks significantly bigger. Might use it to represent Thawn, he is the main draw I want to try out Troop Termis anyway. The plan is to pin (not glue) the gun arms so they can be swappable. This would leave me with: I've glued the arms on and magnetised the hands...it's a lot simpler than you think and still allows to use all the weapon options, I'll be putting a tutorial up on my blog in a few days with some pics if your interested Yes I am interested, because I do not understand how you can get such a clean cut. Unless you are meaning plastics? So whats the link to your blog, always interested in GK blogs anyways. You will have one set of extra arms with a stormbolter in the new terminator set. You should be able to just pop the arms off the old terminator and replace with plastic arms and shoulder pads. (assuming you use the psycannon from the termie set) Involves buying a whole new box of plastic terminators, which is not that enjoyable. And dont you only get 5 sets of shoulder pads? I would go with Draigo. It probably gives you the best chance to use the biggest amount of the models & guns you already have. That is, unless you really fancy going some other route. But if you want to do something different, you're going to need different models. :P Just because I can field a 10 man paladin unit, that is not a reason to play a Draigo Pali Spam. Infact I kinda belive when I factor in the rest of my army. You will agree that I do have an option for many different routs: 10 Terminators (As mentioned above) 2x GKPA: 6 Strong with Incinerator and Justicar. Rest with Halberds One unpainted unbackpacked Metal PA Justicar LRC 2 x Inquisitor Rhinos (With gentle perswasion can be made into Razorbacks) (and enough forgeworld doors for two more if I wanted) Converted Inquisitor with Psycannon (Adding length to the psycannon to become either a HellRifle or Conversion Beamer) Kaskarin Storm trooper squad 14 strong. Withg Sargent, Grenade, Flamer, 2x Melta, 2x Plasma Lots of potential IMO especialy when my local points average is 1250. -Gib- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/#findComment-2755825 Share on other sites
Mordrak
Hey gib will be great to have you take a look at the blog...need some viewing figures lol! Just click the web address at the bottom or my posts or feel free to go to WWW.grey-knights-40k.blogspot.com. By the way I meant the plastics I've really gotta stop posting after 14 hour days my posts go completely wrong and I look like a tool lol! I will look into the metals though I think that the you could easily use a plastic arm magnetised to the metal body and then magnetising the hands...or something lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229553-a-terminator-problem/#findComment-2756077 Share on other sites
