Old Army Started up again

Recommended Posts

Ok so heres the deal. besides my WIP chaos army, I have a Red Talon space marine army. They were my first army EVER and I stopped playing after space marines lost the chapter traits. Now I have always based my army off of faster moving units, usually mounting squads in razerbacks etc. My favorite unit of all time is Scouts. I always have good luck with them and 3 squads used to be necessary. So I have picked up some of the newer scouts etc. the problem is, what else should I pick up? I need some ideas for a character conversion for my leader. I want him to have a jump pack. The force is going to represent a high speed quick hitting army. Another question is, I always get asked "Hey are those Blood Angels" and my response is of course no. Any ideas on how to give them kind of a distinguished look?

Forge World Raven guard upgrade pack is your friend, they have the bird theme and there also mrk 6 helms. this will give your army a cool and diffrent look on the table, also what codex you using?

To distinguish them without changing the red all over scheme?

Blood angels have pretty strong iconography, with all the tear drop gems + wings, you could find something to adorn your models with to set them apart?

my question is 1 would this look good and 2 are these 1 piece medal models or multi part medal models

Perhaps he doesn't want to get Shrike because he has such a generic pose...

Whatever the cause, the first miniature is made from three pieces, body, left and right claw. The second one has his right arm (the chainsword one) already attached.

Hope this helped and won't stop you from completing your vision. ;-)

I want one!

I'm a huge fan of relaxed 'I'm so hard I don't have to try and look hard' poses. I can completely imagine him perched high on the corner of a ruin watching the enemy draw closer to his cunning trap...

I'd say he already has enough bitz and bobz. Any extra fine detail is up to your painting at this point.

Though for one, I'd consider swapping out his traditional Jump Pack for a Sang. Guard one (minus the wings). They're sexy, and may help to make him stand out more from a unit using the traditional dual-thruster JPs.

As Firepower says, he's ornate enough already. Don't agree on the SG jump pack idea though - I dislike those things. Might I suggest instead a MkV armour jump pack instead? :tu:

nice and simple conversion mate!

good combination of parts and a sweet pose.

the green stuff looks very rough though and not like armor ribbing at all.

it also looks like you used a little too much green stuff, because it looks like it goes over the edge of the shoulderpads.

i would strongly recommend to redo the green stuff and add some ribbing with the blade of a modelling knife.

I think he looks great, I do like the single thruster JPs from the sang guard box but I think he looks just fine with a normal JP, if you are looking for a little more flash maybe switch it for the metal JP from the JP-Chaplin, or an old turbo fan JP, maybe try your hand at green stuffing the chapter symbol and/or the mechanicus symbol on the shoulder pads.
