so i want to have 8 ghost knights in order to take full advantage of mordrak, however i don't want to play him all the time.

so how can i model/paint knights that are ambiguous enough to be both ghost and regular?

i don't want to have to do any magnetizing etc and to be honest i was wondering if i could just get away with them having an odd paint scheme, ie counts as regular

There's no rules on paint schemes. You can paint units however you want and call em whatever you want so long as they follow what you see if what you get.

My Grey Knights are all black with bleached bone helmets doesnt mean I cant field them as Grey Knights. :)

I dunno, painting can easily fall under WYSIWIG, which is indeed a rule. Personally, I would just make ghost models and regular ones, just do it when you can afford it.

So anyone who doesnt paint their grey knights silver cannot play Grey Knights? Sorry, but Im going to disagree with you on that. :P

ROFLOL. Yes, that would be the absurd conclusion of Angelis' absurd statement. Luckily we all know that one can paint their marines however they want to.

You just need to let your opponent know which option they are on a given day and you'll be fine.

I'd still suggest having two schemes for clarity, say silver armour/silver helms for your regular termies, silver armour/bone helms for your ghosts, that way when they are being ghosts, and you also have regular GKT on the table, your opponent can easily tell the difference. When they are not being ghosts, they are just Terminators with fancy hats :)

As long as you clarify what they are before hand, and they're visually distinguishable from the rest when used as ghosts, any opponent worth playing won't care how you do it.

For example, all the terminators I intend to use as paladins are painted gold, so when they're being played as paladins they're easily distinguished from the other terminators.

I don't believe thats what I said. I believe I said

In the case he is describing, IMHO that is the case. A Ghost Knight should look Ghostly and a GK should not. The only simple way to portray that is through painting.

Uhhh...no, but anyone who painted their SM as Blood Angels and calls them Black Templars would be wrong. So sorry, painting CAN fall under WYSIWYG Sure, you can proxy, but seriously, how far are you going to proxy? I got Dark Angels painted as DA and I also have Crimson Fists but I do not proxy either as the other. Its lame.
