Grey Knights: Best of the Best of the Best?

On the topic of Win/Loss/Draw records, beyond the utter rubbish they represent (one, who actually keeps honest tallies, and two, who on the internet actually believes them?), a good player going up against good opponents should in fact have a relatively even distribution of wins and losses, and in point of fact should rack up a fair number of draws. True, but would you agree there are many more average to bad players than their are good players? Indeed my 4 losses and 7 of my draws were against really good players however most tournament aren't full of them infact what I would classify as a good player maybe makes up 1 in 20 players.

I don't dispute the fact that there are more bad gamers than there are good gamers, but that's why I also don't care about my (or anybody's) Win/Loss/Draw record. And that was my point; keeping track of every game you play and throwing it up on some tally skews the results because not all the games were evenly played (re: not all your opponents were of your skill level or higher). Which means I couldn't give a fart what anybody's Win/Loss/Draw record was.

Secondly, I stand with GC08 on this one; it is rare, particularly with Space Marines, to simply rule out a unit as useless. Everything has a place, and given the fast, aggressive in-your-face army that the Blood Angels is, it is quite a foolish player indeed who automatically rules out a unit as great as the Baal Predator. It's got an amazing statline, wrapped in a Fast vehicle, that Scouts! Are you kidding me? My Wolves would kill to have a tank like that! I was speaking speciafically of a baal with flamestorms, you chose to read what I said incorrectly. Also AB mech list which is where most baals find their place are not super agressive lists in fact they generally kite more often than completely engage enemies. It is a foolish spacewolf player who comments on a unit he is obviously lacking expertise in.

While you are correct that I have very little experience playing a Blood Angels army, that doesn't mean I am unfamiliar with marines. Fifteen years of playing Space Marines have given me enough knowledge that I can look at a unit and discern (relatively) the role it may play in a list and how it might suit my play-style. However, you misinterpret what I mean by "fast, aggressive in-your-face". Even kiting is a form of aggressive play, because you aren't sitting back and standing still to shoot. True, you aren't throwing assault units right into enemy lines, but by "kiting" enemies along, so you say, while zipping around pewpewing them right in the face where they are at the limits of a buffer zone you maintain (that they cannot break through to get to you), is still a form of aggressive in-your-face play. It simply swings more to an aggressive-defensive play-style (which is invariably where most Mech lies, since it often lacks the numbers to simply charge whole-hog into the enemy).

To Crynn, GC08, and DV8:

Please, just stop it. Crynn wasn't trying to be as insulting as you guys believe he was. Crynn, they are just over-reacting. You guys are quarreling needlessly.

Key learnings here: BA ASM's with support from characters can trounce non-deathstar units in melee. Excellent. I have lots of those.

VVets can pull units and be annoying. Excellent. I have two units with Storm Shields.

Sanguinary Priests and Libbys/Chappys are way nasty, and the priests double my survivablility. Excellent. I shall take 3.

Fast tanks are way annoying, particularly Vindis. Excellent, I have one, and a pred with AC/LC.

PICK MY BATTLES and concentrate force. I will make sure to keep that in mind.

Thanks very much, I think we can calm down and stop fighting here? This thread has been quite sufficient. All the best to you guys.

This is the 2nd topic I had to shut down today because people were either outright insulting or felt aggrieved enough to respond with harsh flaming and the flashing of their epeens.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, PEOPLE! :) This is a game. And supposedly, by the time we're adults, we've learned how to accept differing opinions without having to "prove" anything.

Opinions are mighty difficult to "prove" after all, aren't they? By definition, they aren't "facts".

Express your opinions. Accept when people differ. Discuss your differences like reasonable adults rather than a bunch of immature shoolchildren. I expect better of you.

Finally, if you have a problem with a post, don't respond publicly to it. We have a REPORT button for a reason. Use it..
