Dexo
I have over the last cople of weeks falling more and more in love with the Space wolf (Fluff and models) Last night it resultet in an order at waylandgames  2x Spacewolf Battleforce 2x Spacewolf Terminators boxes 1x Wolfpack box 1x Devastator box 1x Dreadnodt 1x Landraider Crusader/redemer 1x Ravenwing Battleforce (6 Bikes 1 Attack bike 1 Landspeeder) 1x Vindicator 2x Razorback This shoud enable me to make a 1750 point list and don't play the same list all the time. Wulfebane
Holy jesus that's a lot of bulk purchase. With that amount of models, I think you could actually accomplish maybe a 2.5-3k list. You can literally make any of the HQ options from the codex with that list, except anything on a thunderwolf. Try doing a forum search for starter lists. I think someone else posted this question very recently. Oh, and I definitely advocate for rune priests. Also, seems you're missing out on scouts, and unless they're also in the battleforce, you're slim on the long fang options. Hfran Morkai
Welcome to the Fang whelp. Take an ale and a seat! Well now, that's quite a lot of Wolfy stuff, I personally would have changed one of the SW battleforces for a SM one (and the Crusader/Redeemer upgrade sprue for razorback option) to provide you with more options for your Wolves, special weapons mainly but also Wolves not excessively wolfed out (but some people like that). What's done is done though. You do have quite a selection of stuff there though, plenty to get started with. With regards to list building I don't have the time available to build you one right now but someone should be along with assistance shortly. For a HQ choice I would recommend a Rune Priest which can be assembled with a more veteran head, some nice armour and that two handed axe (unless someone donates a nice axe/staff). He would offer a great basis for the army with the capability to shut down enemy psykers as well as throw out his own powers. I would recommend Living Lightning and Storm Caller personally. The main problem I see with your purchases is you are going to have a lot of Plasma Guns but no Meltaguns or Flamers in the boxes. Your Long Fangs will also be difficult to create because most people hail the all Missile Launcher approach as it is cheap and versatile, but you only get one Missile Launcher unless you convert the vehicle Hunter Killer Missiles, which might be an idea for this force. If there's any way you can beg, trade or buy Meltaguns and Flamers I would heartily recommend it, particularly the Melta. I know that GW do a Meltagun bits pack on their site which gives you five of them for a good price (they are well sought after). Dexo
Also, seems you're missing out on scouts, and unless they're also in the battleforce, you're slim on the long fang options. The battleforce is 20 PA Wolf 5 Scouts and a droppod :) The main problem I see with your purchases is you are going to have a lot of Plasma Guns but no Meltaguns or Flamers in the boxes. I didint know about the "no malta" in the wolf box, but i think i have som leftovers from my spacemarien/blood angels projekt, or else i find a solution :) I don't like the look of the ML models so that will not be a problem before i realise i need them in the army ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229614-ups-i-did-it-again/#findComment-2755924 Share on other sites
CainTheHunter
I don't like the look of the ML models so that will not be a problem before i realise i need them in the army ;) Mark my words - You will realise it soon enough :) If You still have some money left, get a couple of tactical boxes - they come with meltagun and missile launcher upgrade. And never ever glue in the Razorback top hatch, so You can switch between Rhino and Razorback variants with a single flip of Your hand :) Welcome to the Fang! Prot
Wow, you just really like to jump into a project, don't you? I'd recommend hitting the Space Wolf Army list section and checking out some of the lists there. Good luck, and welcome. Kassill
Welcome to the Fang laddie! Have an ale *Slides one over* That's quite and army you have there! To help you out some, I whipped up a list of how I would use it, not saying you should, or it's the best, just how I would play with those models that you listed. Hope it helps :D Rune Priest-RA, LL, JotWW-120pts x9man-Plasma Gun, Standard, MotW-170pts/Rhino-35pts x10man-2x Plasma Guns, Standard, MotW-185pts/Rhino-35pts x10man-2x Melta Guns, Standard, MotW-180pts/Drop Pod-35pts x10man-2x Melta Guns, Standard, MotW-180pts/Drop Pod-35pts x8man Wolf Guard-Wc/Wc, WC/Wc, TH/SS, HF-329pts Land Raider Crusader-MM-260pts Vindicator-Siege Shield-125pts 1689pts As you see there still some points leftover to play around with it, but I figured this would do. So first off, let's start off with the models I didnt use. I am not really a dreadnought fan (on table, not fluff) dont know why, so I just left him alone. I also didnt use the Ravenwing stuff as I am not big into bikes or speeders personally. The dev box was left alone because I just couldnt decide how best to kit them out to match the rest of the army. The Wolf Scouts were also left alone because, as cool as they are, there is that slim chance they show up in the wrong spot. Now, moving onto what I did use. I took one of your guys and made him a RP (Which is fine because the squad he joins couldnt be a full squad anyways unless he was foot slogging it). So he's your HQ. I got to looking at you other models and designed the list to be an armored spearhead with a bit of drop pod support. So, You have 2 Grey Hunter Squads with Rune Priest riding in Rhino's with the Land Raider Crusader and Vindicator charging forward while you have two more Grey Hunter's coming down in Pods to, hopefully, knock out some enemy armor and start causing some havoc. I kitted all your Grey Hunters out with Standard's and MotW as these two upgrades are some of the best IMO. They Rhino GH's have Plasma guns and can take some pop shots out the top with the RP while the DP Grey Hunter's are kitted with Meltas to do a bit of armor busting. Your Wolf Guard I shoved into the LR and kitted them out assault oriented. You have two guys with double Wolf Claws, a guy with Hammer and Shield, and another guys with a HF and then 4 plain janes with PW and Storm Bolter. This squad should rip through alot with no problems. I also kitted their LR with a MM to ward off enemy approaching armor that may drift to near it. This also can serve as a sort of "Can opener" if you want your WG to chew through whatever is inside and enemy transport. The Vindicator is simple, push forward and toss out some pie plates. I threw on a Siege Shield but again, that is just personal preference. I hope this helps. I think I explained everything alright. It may seem like a lot to read but hopefully it get's you on the fast track to many glorious victories! :woot: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229614-ups-i-did-it-again/#findComment-2756064 Share on other sites

Grimtooth
I think I am going to write up a SW Starter Buyers Guide for a sticky or just a blog link for our existing stickies.
