And now every year the champions of all of the Sons of Dorn gather on the planet Samarguand IV, in a replica of the Iron Cage, for a tournament to see who is best of the best. this Tournament is known as "The Feast of Blades" and the Champion who beats his competetor's wins the tournament and a sword known as "Dornsblade", which bestows great honour upon the chapter. The last chapter to win were the Excoriator's Chapter at the 860th Feast of Blades tournament, who their champion, "The Scourge" faced Castellan Alighieri of the Black Templars and Montalban of the Imperial Fists in a triple threat match. All were beaten to within an inch of their lives with poisoned strikes from the two gladius' that were the only weapons in the arena.

Dear Eberious, Have you posted a tutorial or tips on how you get your legs so God-Emperor-damn good looking?

If not may i request something explaining how you do it, and tools you use?

In my attempts I either find saws that are too big or I snap hobby knives and endanger my face. :P

Specifically running poses. I have lots of angry Templars who are spread legged standing still, and that is just unacceptable.

thatnks all forthe commets.

@Hotspur, youre welcome.

@Tolek, sounds like a nice day out, somewhere to kick back and relax , family friendly? lol

@ Th!rdeye, thanks, but I dont think I've posted a pic os my legs online before. Are you in the bushes across the street. As I thought I saw someone in there last night. (while typeing night I typed Knight without realising just before posting, hmm what could I be thinking about, lol) The legs are just running legs standard right out the pack. A few mods to some models like yours but otherwise just posed at a angle/tilted to further inforce a foward/sideways motion. I find when they are stuck flat on the base they look like they are skipping. Not to say I coundnt convert static legs to running. Might have a go tonight actualy got plenty legs to test on. But I'll post a pic to show what tools I use in general.

@ScottishSmurf96, thanks very much as this is one of the reasons I wanted to do this for the BT community. I found that models in my control are pretty much the same, with the control taken away to what it will look like and armed with. It has created a host of individual models that other wise I possibly would of never made. Each one I'm like 'why didnt I make one like it before' .

Maybe I'm a spy for the Alpha Legion..... All your legs are belong to us...

But I have tons of standing legs and don't feel like dropping tons of money on running legs from Ebay. So I'd love to get some tips on how to make then look less bland. Running or not. You have some good static poses such as Taios model. Love to have legs like that... ;)

Indeed,

And I know where youre coming from the running legs are more expensive I find than others, for obvious reasons. But as requested heres a little tut on running legs from static pose.

I'll do this as a link, as just standard legs but you can see which ones I used.

Carefully chop this muther up, so you have all the joints. Depending on what legs you are using and which way they are leaning will dictate what foot I leave alone. As this set was leaning to the right(our left)then the right foot is left intact.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh627/EberiousTemplar1/DSC08694_zpsf27b5e22.jpg

Cut the toe bit at the sectioned part of the boot. Once cut off, cut at an angle down so it sits flush with the main part of the boot. Then stick it right back on. This will give you the tippy-toe sprinting lift of the GW running legs.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh627/EberiousTemplar1/DSC08695_zps48053646.jpg

Once the toe is done stick it back into the foot joint and position it as such to elevate/pivot? the leg thats on the ground. Then its a case of making the other bits fit into what you want the pose to look like, as in curled up behind or the knee up infront. I went with out behind with this one.

Took me about 45 minutes to do this, tis a while but you'll save yourself a

Nice tutorial! I've been wanting to make more custom leg poses myself given how few different default poses there are, but as I've mentioned a few times in other threads I'm very hesitant about conversions in general due to the chance of messing things up. Legs are several steps up in the hesitation scale due to being quite expensive. But as your example demonstrates, if it succeeds the end result can indeed be excellent and definitely worth the time and effort for one with the confidence to even attempt it.
I have lots of angry Templars who are spread legged standing still, and that is just unacceptable.

This mental picture really messed with my head.

Otherwise, I was swooning over all the conversions and cool guys.

Just awesome!

Thanks all,

Next up...

Marshal laeroth: I had an idea to wrap the purity seals ribbons around his wrists with the wax seals here and there. However this was after I had finished, and don't want to undo what I've done.

I couldnt get a better pic, I hate my camera.

Ooo'k, for some unkown reason when using the direct link it attaches unwanted adverts to it now, great!. Thats deeply annoying.

@Marshal Wilhelm, lol. Thought about strapping two of them on him, both facing the same direction the wind flow is going.

@ShottyScotty, nope. Heres my Helbrecht.

I've rebased him since this photo, as I use him for gaming nowadays.

and hers the 'making of' just in case anyone wants to see more.

thanks all,

@Olisredan, the metal one on Helbrecht was from mail order when GW still did the full range, the plastic one on Laeroth is from the SM commander box.

@Crimson Hawk, yes it unfortunatley is closed for new additions but thanks very much for the comment/request and hope you enjoy the rest of this project.

@Marshal Laeroth, glad you like it and you are welcome.

1st real attempt at a all greenstuff cape. It went well.

1000heathens: Like he just stepped out of a salon, erm I mean the Iron cage.

Now I belive this is Mk VI plate from my google search-fu. Trimmed down the BT shoulder pad so it would not have the raised trim. Matches the left studded one in terms of plate Mk. Hope this is the right Mk plate you requested.

C&c welcome as always.

To the Iron Cage 1000heathens went and there many foes he Vanquished, no one dared defy his might and the scars and dents he got to his armour, he wore as his honour and marks of his Glory

Chaos swarmed him, Daemons tested him but with bolter and chainsword he fell them all...

Awesome work as always Artificer Eberious

No doubt about it as well that Grey knight purifier's cape went extremely well!

Thanks very much all,

@Grey Knight Purifier, glad you like it. Can't wait to paint all these, but not far off.

@Olisredan, suitably beaten & suitably tired. But no rest why foul xenos draw breath, a moments pause before walking off like awesome sauce.

@Marshal_Roujakis, yes, I hate greenstuff at the best of times. But worked this with some water on a bit of plasticard and some wet finger arrnagement later, he hasa cape. I don't know why but when it comes to painting it I want him to have a brown cape?, Emperor knows why?

@ScottishSmurf96, thanks and the Smurfy addition will be along soon. Need to order in some ory bits. Had a go at greenstuffing an ork torso/back as have arms and a few heads. But , lets just say it didnt work....its currently a lump of Gst somewhere, lol.
