Vaudix
Also I will be trying this out, with the exception of less rust and more paint for details. I'll post pics when I can. Iron_Adam
I really want to try this on an iron warrior, but lighter. Or bases Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229770-real-rust-effects/#findComment-2761490 Share on other sites
Vaudix
I really want to try this on an iron warrior, but lighter. Or bases I've yet to try it myself but i presume you could put less metal coverage on the model to lessen the rust. KaosRaptor
In the tut it looked like all the models he did were completely coated in rust. I wonder if it's possible to only put it on certain parts? Either way, it looks excellent. Nice find, and thanks for posting :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229770-real-rust-effects/#findComment-2763437 Share on other sites
Iron_Adam
I have since used this product, and if your looking for mild rust this works very well, I used an old paint brush to paint on the iron slurry stuff, and waited for it todry, i also used a brush to paint on the activater, and the effect is pretty cool. I had to do several coats though, it settles funny so the more coats the better. I will be using this on my Mortarion when he gets here. and the best part is that is rusts in shades, so its not uniform and looks genuine, because it is! pics are in my posts of 1 character for each legion in the work in progress section Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229770-real-rust-effects/#findComment-2766310 Share on other sites

ommelette
Wow, these look awesome! Has anyone tried this method to make rust just in isolated spots and not the entire model? If you can use the same method for rusted parts of vehicles that would be awesome, has anyone tried this and can show images/tell us how they did it? I promise you I will be experimenting on this one of these days. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/229770-real-rust-effects/#findComment-2867148 Share on other sites
DIDM
I would think powdering the rust and then making your own "paint" out of it and lightly applying "could" give a nice look. I need to get experimenting on things like this. Next term I'm taking a painting class for sure. I can paint my models for class work. Maybe take a modeling class as well.
