Brother Ambroz
Alright I played this list against an Ork player last night, I think it did pretty decently since I've only played orks before once in my 40k career. Those jump pack guys are annoying. Anyways here's the list I went with: HQ DP- MoN, Wings, Warptime - 175 Khârn the Betrayer - 165 Troops PM x7- Champ, PF, Plasma x2 - 231 PMx7- Champ, PF, Melta x2- 221 Berserkers x9- Champ, PF - 229 Berserkers x9- Champ, PF - 229 Rhino x4 - 140 Heavy Support Oblits x3 - 225 Oblits x3 - 225 Defiler - CCW x2 - 150 Total = 1990 points Defiler ended up soaking up a ton of fire from the orks and was one of the last things to die. I stole the initiative from him and blew up two of his 3 tanks, he had two of the lower AV looted tanks and one of the AV 14 ones. His helicopter things were really annoying though. Anyways raced my rhinos across the board and hid my DP behind the defiler. He blasted away at the defiler doing nothing. Turn 2 the defiler killed a couple copters and one of my rhinos tank shocked another copter squad. Oblits fired las at the copters and blew up the last tank. His turn, he took a few more pot shots at the defiler, exploded a PM rhino and took a few shots at the PMs doing no casualties. My turn, I move my last 3 rhinos up into position to disgorge my marines (leaving them inside so they can charge out next turn), the defiler fires again and kills 4 lootas (i think they were lootas, the shooty guys with AC like guns?), oblits shoot some PC shots into the ork mobs, PM slowly move out and fire bolters. His turn, he gets his reserve rolls (which I had no idea he even had these, else I might have played differently) and deepstrikes his stormboyz and commandos in on the side with my DP, defiler and an oblit squad. He shoots alot and kills a PM, two rhinos, stuns the 3rd. He winds up killing all but one of my 1st Oblit squad. He then charges my weakened bezerk squad, lone remaining oblit and DP/Defiler combo. He kills the oblit, tries to kill the defiler with his powerfist on the stormboyz (pissed me off I didn't know he could come on the board shoot and then assault just like that but whatever) and failed getting a dreadnought CCW to the face for his mistake. My DP rolls warptime and kills 4 stormboyz. He does 2 wounds to the DP, 1 PF and one power weapon (apparantley the burnas count as power weapons in CC if he doesn't shoot?). My turn, Khârn and his squad pop out as and by now almost all my army is in CC. Khârn charges the lootas killing 6, they fail morale, Khârn kills them all. Beserkers assault a squad of 20-25 along with a remaining 3 PM squad killing 15-18. They pass morale. DP kills another 4, defiler another 4 as well finishing the stormboyz off. unfortunately the commandos are right there. His turn, more fire into the defiler, this time managing to destroy the battlecannon, shooting the last of my 2nd oblit and PM squad on the other side of the board. He charges my DP with his commandos, DP killing 4 and them finishing him off. My turn, my remaining two PMs charge the commandos with the defiler killing a total of 6 and causing them to flee. Khârn charges a helicopter killing two. Beserkers move off to find something else to kill. His turn, he Waaghs even though i thought he did already, and moves his warboss squad across the board to charge Khârn. They shoot the defiler immobilizing it and destroying a CCW. Khârn rolls bad and does 2 wounds to the boss. Boss rolls decent and does two. I save one but the other is insta-death. My turn, beserkers charge and kill the warboss, rolling 16 wounds on 4 models. His 3 remaining copters and squad of boyz move closer to the beserkers and try to shoot them doing a total of 2 unsaved wounds. My turn I move my remaining PM champ (he's all that's left...) behind the defiler and the beserkers behind the rhino. His turn, he shoots the PM with a rocket wounding it but he doesn't feel the pain HAH. And we roll because by now we forgot what turn it is and figure it's about time and the game ends. Sorry if this doesn't make too much sense to everyone, I don't write many battle reports. I win killing 9 of his units to my 8 he killed. It was a really fun game but I really wish he would've told me about those other units, You're supposed to aren't you? I also felt like he was kinda stretching the ruler a bit when he'd move. Origionally he tried to move his copters the turbo boost and then shoot but my buddy was there and didn't let that happen. Again this probably wouldn't have been so close if i'd known the ork codex a bit. nurglez
when you deploy, you state which of your remaining units are in reserve, deepstriking, outflanking or coming on from your table edge. When I write battle reports (which isn't that often, though I have written a few), I try and break it up into paragraphs. Turn 1 blah blah Turn 2 etc etc helps make it easier to look at, as a big block of writing is a bit ugly heh. well done to win even though you had a surprise thrown at you. Brother Ambroz
Gotcha! I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place. Anyways I promise next time (aka the tourney this weekend hopefully) I'll take pics along with the paragraphed bat reps. On the other hand, do you ever find opponents that get annoyed when you take alot of pictures for batreps? MagicMan
Ive noticed Ork players like to stretch the measuring tape, especially when moving big units of Boyz. They spread them out to avoid templates (which means they should take longer to get across the board, and when the front ones charge, the rest should fail to get within 2 inches) but the back guys always end up moving 8 or 9 inches anyway...
