minionboy
I've put some time into getting my fallen conversions painted, so far I'm really happy with the progress. http://www.thediceabide.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/IMG_2501.jpg You can find more pics on my blog: http://www.thediceabide.com Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230122-painting-the-fallen/ Share on other sites
Gillyfish
Very nice! The dark robes work very well - I like the selection of colours and tone there. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230122-painting-the-fallen/#findComment-2763802 Share on other sites
Tanhausen
Looking good  The robes are a bit too neutral for my taste and take up almost all the visual impact off the model...maybe a biz of glazin with some green to pop it up? EPK
Yes, these are looking great. I like the old rusty feel of the arms and armor. Related to Tan's suggestion, perhaps just some accent line around the bottom of the robes could make them pop more. I also noticed what you did to the stock avatar you little heretic you. minionboy
Thanks for the feedback so far! I based their paint scheme off of the pre-heresy Dark Angels (obviously), but I wanted to make them more unique. To do that, each squad has their right shoulder divided up in the same way (quarters, halves, etc), and each model has their own heraldry painted into that design. I wanted to make the robes resemble a friar's robes, hence the neutral brown color, and I wanted them to look like they don't always have time to stop and clean weapons/armor, so they're heavily weathered and rusted. Hugebill
I love the way you painted them, and I think it's a great idea not to make them shiny like normal space marines. Those Fallens have passed the 10 000 last years fleeing the wrath of the Unforgiven, no time to make them armor look too good, just be content with not getting catched and keep the fight on! The painting job is really good on the bikes, especially on the exaust pipe, where you kept some really shiny spot like on a real old motorcycle. Love them, even if you are a damn traitor. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230122-painting-the-fallen/#findComment-2763979 Share on other sites

minionboy
Thanks everyone, this is really keeping me inspired to get them finished! Only a tactical squad, 3 terminator squads, 3 rhinos and 3 predators to go... for one of my army lists... still have 6 speeders, 12 bikes, 3 attack bikes, 20 veterans and 15 HQ models to paint. Looking good. Nice touch to see the old style weapons being used :D. Cheers I You should see my unpainted melta/multimelta squad, I used 2nd edition bolters because I ran out of forgeworld (also adds variety)! Bryan Blaire
They look very nice, not entirely sold on the almost vermin brown robes, but, to be honest, maybe it fits rats like the Fallen! :) They really are great, and I think you've made an awesome set of Fallen for us to chase! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230122-painting-the-fallen/#findComment-2764217 Share on other sites
minionboy
So I've been wanting to add some predators to my force, but I am also trying to keep close to pre-heresy in theme. I am not a fan of the old dome shaped predator turrets and sponsons though; so, I've decided to sculpt a 2nd edition style predator destructor turret! The modelling is done, now all that is left is to cast it in resin. If it's not a total pain, maybe I'll sculpt up a few extras to sell. It fits perfectly in the current rhino turret spot. To make the sponsons more appropriate, I'm going to be using the russ sponsons, not to mention the added niceness of having interchangeable guns. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2465/5740462183_9fd2fee82b_z.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3152/5759597826_9a1ffbb724_z.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230122-painting-the-fallen/#findComment-2770873 Share on other sites

minionboy
Hey guys, I just sold off my Arachnarok for a cool $175, so I'll be getting back to work on the fallen ASAP. Putting in an order for 6 razorbacks this weekend, 3 for actual razorbacks, the other 3 to turn into predators and give me spare razorback turrets. Lets hope that the casting goes well! Brother Kovash
Very nice looking predator turret. A quick note regarding the razorbacks, if you need extra bits you can always hit up ebay or another bits store online. You'll save money in the long run. minionboy
Oh, i need 6 rhino hull vehicles, 3 razorbacks and 3 predators, but I made my own turret and am using Russ sponsons, so it made no sense to buy the predators, instead i just bought 3 more razorbacks.
