Token
The shoulderpad with a sword through a book (power armor), are they supposed to go on only one side, or can you have them on both? What about termies? Should the small shield where you paint the... symbol of the warrior... whatever it is called, only supposed to be on one side? Left or right? Other things that should be correct? Do the knights always have storm bolter in one hand and weapon in the other, or can you have a storm bolter in the right hand? Angelis Mortis
Book&Sword goes on the models left shoulder. Thats the Chapter symbol. The other has personal heraldry/squad markings. Token
Thanks. Should each power armored grey knight have personal heraldry on the right shoulder pad, or is that for squad markings? number6
The fluff indicates that the right shoulder pad is for personal heraldry. There's no reason you can't instead use squad markings. "Back in the day", many (if not most) GK players -- myself included -- didn't bother with personal heraldry and either did nothing special on the right shoulder pad or used it for squad markings. It's just not that big a deal one way or another. Myself, I'm only an adequate painter and can't freehand for crap. So the idea of developing and then neatly painting personal heraldry on my 7 GKTs and 40 PAGKs was not an option. I'm switching my lists up considerably because of the new codex, obviously, and while I'm mulling over trying to go with personal heradry (retrofitting older models and painting new ones) ... I doubt I'll follow through with it. I'd rather not ruin my models! Mainstream Grey Knights do not have the privledge to display their heraldry on their armour. Also I dont believe the Grey Knights utilize dedicated squads. There is no chapter org as far as I've seen so squad markings may not even apply to Grey Knights. KnowThyEnemy
yes and no. ive read fluff saying what you stated about only justicars getting their heraldry, but i think the painted examples in the books are more concrete...plus it looks nice :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230180-correct-shouldpads-and-such/#findComment-2765116 Share on other sites
Token
The heraldry should be red and white, yes? Unique heraldry for each grey knight? Kinda hard if its a big army.. Not only on right shoulderpad, sometimes on legs or such?
