Grizzly Adams
ok, so I started thinkin about it, and I am currently running a Wolf lord with - ---Termie Armor ---Frost Axe ---Storm Shield ---Wolf Tooth Necklace ---Saga Of the Warrior Born Now, i am having issues with his transportation, as I don't have the points for a raider, and really my only option is a drop pod. Now, If i stick him in Runic armor, I have - ---2+ save ---Ability to ride in Rhinos ---can Sweeping advance all for the same points cost as I am already taking a storm shield the 5++ from termie armor is irrelevant, and wolves can't teleport, so I am really gaining a lot more versatility for no gain in points. Am I understanding this correctly? is there any point to taking a WL in TDA then if one is taking a storm shield then? Decoy
Not much of a reason at all, mate. The Invuln is better, the 2+ is the same. The positives from Terminator Armor are already covered, leaving the negative regarding Sweeping Advance (or the lack thereof.) Go for the Runic, hands down. Grizzly Adams
awesome, that is what I was thinkin, of course I figure this out after I put together and paint my Wolf Lord in TDA... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230233-runic-armor-vs-termie-armor/#findComment-2765653 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
awesome, that is what I was thinkin, of course I figure this out after I put together and paint my Wolf Lord in TDA... :P Just make it a Lone Wolf instead. Unless you're referring to your Gunnar model. Either way, excellent opportunity to snip the axe blade and replace with a thunderhammer for better lone wolfie mayhem. jamsight
Runic is better game wise but Terminator armour is just intimidation on two legs, plus if you drop the storm shield (I know not great for your invuls) you could take some wolves as a wound soak and still have a reasonable save. Sarapham
The Runic armor also comes with that extra 5+ save against psychic attacks which can be a handy bonus these days. Hfran Morkai
I'd say it depends on who you are running him with. If using a Wolf Guard as retinue with Terminator Armour it might be better to put him in TDA so he doesn't look dwarfed by his guard, unless that is the look you want. If running him with Power Armoured units then Runic Armour would clearly be better. commander alexander
^^^This^^^, and unless your facing some huge, fearless horde of nids, you are likely to get a sweeping advance in a round of combat or two. Plus, a belt of russ or storm shield will give you a better save than terminator armor. It may cost more, but the benefits have been laid out before you.
