RabidWulfen
Ok so, a long time ago (to me anyway) I bought Gabriel Seth for a painting comp in store, needless to say i finished him and it was fun but now i want to give him an army to lead. I am a very slow painter, and to avoid getting boged down and becoming flippant with painting the models i was hopping that i could use a spray base coat, low and behold Dragon red from Army Painter, the only thing i need to know about this is if it looks like Mechrite red, because in a white dawarf which i recently read and my own painting of Seth that is the base colour i used looking at it on my laptop it look a lot brighter However, when i say a model painted in mechrite red on my laptop it also looked about the same colour so i was wondering if maybe its my laptop and the paint is darker in real life. Any help you can give would be greatly apreciated. shan vener
actually i've used both on my BA and there is a difference in the 2, mechrite red is darker but army painter is quicker and more even coverage. maybe if you use army painter you could use badab black or devlan mud to darken it. RabidWulfen
Is the difference between the 2 very great? Because washing the model once or twice is what i was planning to do but if its still to bright it could be a problem. crazychib
You could always wash with Baal Red to darken the overall colour. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230253-army-painter-dragon-red-spray-vs-gw-mechrite-red/#findComment-2766764 Share on other sites

Yes please, I know that I'm not the OP, but I have been having the same issue for my marines, time is at s premium and a spray basecoat would help me speed things up and spend more time on the rest or the paint job Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230253-army-painter-dragon-red-spray-vs-gw-mechrite-red/#findComment-2767971 Share on other sites
RabidWulfen
Tell me about it Legoss, i only want it for a quick army that i can pump out in a weekend, as sort of a chalange for myself to improve my speed painting and try and teach me not to be such a pedantic perfectionist when it comes to my en mase models. shan vener any pics you can post, proeferably of the two types side by side would be helpfull soo much Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230253-army-painter-dragon-red-spray-vs-gw-mechrite-red/#findComment-2768907 Share on other sites
