Grey Knights Win!

Well I attended a tournament today and the Grey Knights place first - and went undefeated in a 30 person 2000 pt tournament in White Plains, NY. His list was along the lines of the below:

Coatez - 100

3x (5) Purifiers, 2 psycannon, hammer, Rhino psyammo

3x Dread, 2x TLAC, psyammo

4x (5) GKSS, psycannon, hammer, razorback psyammo

2x (3) multi melta servators, chimera, extra armor

I am not sure what he filled the remaining points with but he literally tore up the DE list and nids and BA list he played in the first and second round.

Well just wanted to let you guys know that the good guys won.

EDIT - corrections made - additional info can be found on his blog: http://thebrownpaintbrush.blogspot.com/

Any info about the lists that the DE/IG players were fielding?

Weird that he fielded Coteaz without a lot of henchmen, but I guess that was a really valid tactic- scoring multimelta Chimeras... Definitely good food for thought.

Thanks for the info!

Coteaz is a great choice as an HQ - very cheap compared to the other choices plus he has good psychic powers (Sanctuary, level 2 psyker) and some very useful special rules like forcing the reroll for Seize Initiative. Well done. I'm assuming this was the BfS RTT. :P

You sir, are correct. Still working on getting the lists that were played.

Coteaz is in my (not so) humble opinion, the best special character HQ in the Grey Knights list.

He's mercifully cheap, not entirely crap in melee, has some useful psychic abilities, and makes henchmen troops.

By spending 124 points on Coteaz and 6 acolytes you can then spend 1650+ points filling your elite slots with Paladin.

To be honest I love characters that mess around with the FOC. I like Coteaz and Crowe for just that reason. (yes, I know that Crowe is not much good for anything else, if I use him it'll be in a foot slogging Purifier army)
