Kasres
I have been wanting to roll a straight Wolf army ever since I bought this codex, and Thus it is only reasonable that I'd want to storm Canis with his Two Wolf Retinue on the board from the get-go, issues as I See them : Canis is rather expensive USD wise and he gets gunned down pretty fast Admittedly the only time I used him was in a tiny game, and I just used a large round base (The size he comes with) with the word "CANIS" painted on it, similar strategy with his retinue, but not an army of the buggers. Also, would he be worth the points rolling him in with a non-wolf company? at that break it seems like a Wolf Lord on a Wolf would be pretty even, once you give him 2 wolf claws, and you'd save quite a few points off of that cost. Voracioustigger
Well, he's clearly better than an identically equipped lord. For the same price, he gets a 3+ to hit, 5+ save vs. psychic powers and I5 Ld 7 Wolves. The ONLY disadvantages are Ld8 and WS 5 (which only makes a difference against WS6 models). It sounds like he could be useful in certain situations. For example, in DoW scenarios, Deploying Canis with 15 Fenrisian Wolves can REALLY be a game changer. You end up having a good chance of sending a pretty strong unit right into your enemy lines on turn 1. And, if you detach Canis... you can pretty much wipe out a space marine squad in one turn (he can get all 10 based around him for 12 attacks ~10 hits ~7Wounds. That's basically making his points back right there. Then the wolves can charge something else for 45 S4 I5 attacks. In Spearhead/Pitched battle games though, it seems like having to hoof it all the way across the table will limit his selection of which units to charge. If your enemy puts a dreadnought between Canis and his army, then you essentially have to hold Canis back or suicide him. I think if Canis came with a belt of Russ at 210pts... we'd see him a LOT more often. Darkseer
I think your answer is NO. In fact, the only special character worth taking seems to be Arjac Rockfist. Logan is awesome, but he's very expensive. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230407-canis-wolfborne/#findComment-2768192 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
darkseer is right. the model has grown on me, but its rule are garbage. the lack of a invul save means this model just sits on my shelf, painted but not used. Kasres
Well thanks! I might try a specific set up game with a friendly dude down at the game store I go to if he lets me use the base-army method (It kinda sucks that there are no wolf models, even suckier that there are no TWC models) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230407-canis-wolfborne/#findComment-2768568 Share on other sites

He is a hard hitter that boosts his own squad, same with Logan, but less raw hard hitting power more resilience.
