Heya all, just got into painting again after a long time of being inactive.

Just some teaser pics of almost finished models I painted 1+ years ago, please let me know what you think.

Picking up where I left off, still have a around 1500 points of Ultramarines/GK's to paint and it's going damn slow:(

Not really much to say apart from do more!

Seriously though, I like the freehand on the second veteran, and the hair/stubble is pretty cool too (looks like washes?)

GRN

Thanks for the kind words, I'm working on being able to show more :D

The hair/stubble was done by dry brushing multiple colours and finally highlighting.

Ah? Looks sweet. Any chance of a tut? :tu:

Thanks and sure, when painting the hair like that, first just paint the whole head like you normally would (this makes the skin tone visible between the hair stubs).

Then use a fine detail or detail brush and apply a tiny amount of codex grey to your brush and start dry brushing the part where the hair should be.

You can repeat the process using lighter tones of paint until you reach the desired colour.

I believe I used fortress grey and codex grey.

Cheers! Sounds good, do you think it would work for facial hair aswell as... Head hair?

That would work just fine, just be careful you don't use too much paint on your brush:)
