Psy-Crow
whats the general consensus on how to paint them? Fire has its brightest point in the middle of the flames yet on the gw website the LotD figs are painted the opposite way, with the flames starting dark then getting brighter. Is this a deliberate fluff thing with some sort of reverse flames or a mistake on the painters part? I'm sure someone will drop the "its your figs, do what you want" bomb but I like my guys to be as fluffy as poss, thanks in adv. Seahawk
They are painted that way because to paint them in a realistic fashion apparently makes them "top heavy" according to GW, and just not look right. I've seen good examples of both, so really it's up to you. I prefer the style that pops more on my own Legionnaires: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/veritas117/My%20Best%20Models/100_7274.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/veritas117/My%20Best%20Models/100_7278.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230526-lotd-flames/#findComment-2769818 Share on other sites

Psy-Crow
Agreed, incredible for 1st figs, plus a brave choice considering level of detail and cost of fig. I see what you mean seahawk, they do stand out a little more that way, plus it must be easier working off a yellow base than a red one. Hmm, I must ponder over this one a little more. Thanks for the Photos and advice. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230526-lotd-flames/#findComment-2770527 Share on other sites
Seahawk
Well, I actually went with an orange base (whole flame as orange) and then just the uppers as yellow. Still, very easy. Marshall_Brant
If you're looking for a detailed guide to paint flames/LoTD look for WD #360, Anja Wettergreen does a painting guide for the LoTD Sargent. That's what I used for my Sargent. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230526-lotd-flames/#findComment-2772083 Share on other sites
