Forza St. Pauli
I just started painting again and the first tactical squad is finished (except for the sergeant), so I made a few quick shots of my Ultramarines. http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_01.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_02.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_03.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_04.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_05.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_06.jpg http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_07.jpg If you like to leave some comments or helpful feedback, that’s very much appreciated  I also posted a thread regarding my army list... just in case you want to leave some comments there too ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/ Share on other sites
greatcrusade08
wow nicely done. these are clean precise and very ultramariney.. the highlights arent too OTT either.. very nice welcome to the ultras forum  edit: just curious, where abouts are you from? Generating Random Name...
Cool models, very crisp. They do look a little 'chalky' but that might just be the pictures. One thing I think could improve them even more would be to paint a reflection on the lense of the gun scope, and I don't think you'd have any problem with that. What are you planning to do next? Forza St. Pauli
Wow! Thanks for all your nice comments and your commendations. I didn’t thought the response would be so fantastic  edit: just curious, where abouts are you from? I’m from Hamburg, Germany :) Cool models, very crisp. They do look a little 'chalky' but that might just be the pictures. One thing I think could improve them even more would be to paint a reflection on the lense of the gun scope, and I don't think you'd have any problem with that. What are you planning to do next? Yes indeed, they do look a bit chalky. That’s because of the purity seal… but I think it’ll wear off in time. I’m not sure what you’re meaning… but I painted a reflection on the gun scope :cuss (pictures aren’t that good). At the moment I’m painting the sergeant for this squad and the Captain for my army. Further plans are to paint the second tactical squad and after that the stern guard veterans. I’m not sure what you’re meaning… but I painted a reflection on the gun scope :P (pictures aren’t that good). Ah, I must have missed it the first time, I can see it now. It's slightly different from ones I have seen (Lighter 'C' shape on the bottom, then black 'C' shape on the top, with the little white dot in the black) At the moment I’m painting the sergeant for this squad and the Captain for my army. Further plans are to paint the second tactical squad and after that the stern guard veterans. Cool, I won't ask about the captain, but are you using the GW sternguard models, or making your own? Halten Sie sich die gute Arbeit! Seahawk
Those look great! The flat coat really makes them look solid. Going on about the lenses, I'd suggest brushing on a little gloss coat for anything glassy, like the helmet and scope lenses. This will make them look more than just dull plastic :D. I'll like the sternguard models from GW very much, so I'll intend to use them. Halten Sie sich die gute Arbeit! I would translate it "Gute Arbeit, weiter so" Those look great! The flat coat really makes them look solid. Forza St. Pauli
Here are some pics of my sergeant that I finished yesterday. http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_22.JPG http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_24.JPG http://www.tobias-timm.de/tim/Bilder/Warhammer_40k/Ultramarines_Tactical_25.JPG Actually I'm not really satisfied with the shaved hair, but after all it's just army painting ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/#findComment-2782757 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
I think the grey hair is just too light in color and thick in consistency. It certainly doesn't look bad, it's a nice model. On another note, I really miss that Sergeant's head. Why'd GW replace it with the half-bionic one? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/#findComment-2782784 Share on other sites
Forza St. Pauli
Yes, it definitly is to thick... just thinking about to repaint the top of the and make it bold ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/#findComment-2782816 Share on other sites

Forza St. Pauli
Two hours ago I painted the scullcap with elf flesh und washed it with gryphon sepia... still not happy with the result ^_^ Stay tuned for a new head, lol :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/#findComment-2782979 Share on other sites
alexious
Those figs look good. Only suggestion I can make, is that it looks like you are using decals. If so, you get a better effect applying decal set to the area where the transfer will go, and then another coat of decal set over the transfer after you apply it. It basically melts the transfer onto the model and gets rid of the chalkiness that the carrier film can have. testors makes it. Also, you might want to swithc sealers to testors dullcote. Never had any chalkiness problems with it, and its cheaper. Forza St. Pauli
In genuine the decals don't look that bad as I'm already using "Micro Set" and "Micro Sol" for applying the decals. But nevertheless... thanks for the tipp, mate :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230556-some-pics-of-my-ultramarines-more-new-pics-added/#findComment-2784062 Share on other sites
chaplainmikey
Hi, I really like these, the more muted/matt finish blue really makes the models look professional and lends them a somewhat more realisic feel than most Ultras I've seen. The Sgt. with comb-melta is my favourite, his face looks great. Hope we see some more in the near future! Cheers, Mike.
