Hello! I've been lurking for a while and registered so I could comment on how much I like your paint jobs. Very nice and cleanly done.

Have you posted your techniques anywhere on the forum? Just curious as to what colours you use and how you get the lovely crisp black lines and highlights so tidy. :D

Actually I don’t have any special techniques for painting my miniatures. I basically stick to the "official" GW tutorial. But soon I want to airbrush the base colour for speeding up the quite time consuming paintig process. Imho it's important to paint very clean and a steady hand helps a lot.

Pros

  • Cool looking miniatures
  • Very Ultramariney

Cons

  • You have to mix a lot of colors
  • Time-consuming painting process

The

is also a good (and faster) way to paint your Ultramarines, but for myself I find them to dark.

Cool. I've been trying out a variety of Ultramarine variations on some test models, but I found that the GW site method really produced the look that I liked the best. So I guess from here I just have to regain the steady hand that I had a few years back. I've already discovered my painting has improved after getting a couple of nicer brushes.

Keep up the good work! Very inspiring.

I'm painting some Ultra's for a friend of mine and we decided on the Reaper Master Series paints. They have an Ultramarine triad color set that's perfect and eliminates a lot of mixing. There's a shadow, main color and a highlight.

Guten Tag DAG (just playing on words ;)),

thanks for the tip mate, but unfortunately it comes a bit to late for me. I never change paints when I'm painting an army (but I do change pants, haha).

But the Ultramarines Blues Triad seems pretty interessting for people who are just starting to paint an army.

These guys look awesome. If I ever finish painting a few hundred points of my marines, I would like to have a game against these. That is assuming that you do, as your screenname suggests, live in St. Pauli or thereabouts.

Unfortunately this is only the first half of my second squad and I have to paint a few more points to reach the "magical 500 pts barrier". If you consider my painting speed (if you want to call it speed) it will take a while.

But as soon as I have a playable army a game against you would by much appreciated:)
