Below are the images of the first three tactical squads I ever painted, as well as a TDA Librarian, Steelwing Terminator Squad (aka deathwing) and half an Assault Squad. The painting on them was pleasing years ago, but now they are an eyesore. So please take a look before I strip the paint from them. Brother-Chaplain Kage Posted May 28, 2011 Share Posted May 28, 2011 I know exactly how you feel about this - most of the marines I have are from late '98 or early '99 when 3rd edition came out, and they're going through their fourth repaint. ;) I wish you luck with their new livery and hope it's not such an eyesore for you. Cpt_Reaper Posted May 28, 2011 Author Share Posted May 28, 2011 I also ordered a boatload of resin bases from back2base-ix to add to the squads. The main reasons for the repaint are the heavyhanded application of the silver and the poorly painted eye lenses. I have a new silver that goes on much thinner, and the black will be hand-painted as opposed to spray painting them. You might see if you can have some decals printed for them; some years back, I bought some decals from Griffon Games that were pretty good quality, and I think they'll do custom decals as well. Cpt_Reaper Posted June 6, 2011 Author Share Posted June 6, 2011 my resin bases came today :angry: I have been somewhat reluctant to continue until they arrived, now I am motivated once more. I will be starting to repaint the squads on Wednesday, which is also when I get to steal borrow my mum's camera :P I might be able to post some pics later tonight with my camera but the quality won't be as good as the pics above. You see, the scheme is silver and black, and I have been wondering if highlighting the black would add too much grey to the model. Also, I need an extra colour. The three colours I use are black, silver and green (eye lenses). What would be a good colour to introduce to the model and where should I paint it? I have moved recently and tonight I was scrubbing my force after a soak in methylated spirits overnight. They are coming out very VERY well. Tomorrow I will basecoat them hopefully, and do a few touch ups. I am however stuck on a few things. - what colour to paint the bolter casing - on the Steelwing, what do I paint the powerfists - what colour should I paint the steelwing terminators to mark them out as such. Cpt_Reaper Posted October 2, 2011 Author Share Posted October 2, 2011 I am currently bouncing between basing and removing mould lines (damn it past me!) as well as drilling barrels. So here is my first Sergeant on his lava base. Base is from Back-2-Basix (I think that's the spelling) an Aussie base company. My camera lacks a macro setting...so close up's get blurry. try taking a picture from farther and using a image edditing software (paint.net is a free one) cropping the "useless" parts we don't realy need 1024x768 pictures anyway ^_^ I wish you good luck with your painting !
