Rise of the Purge

Malarius

Recommended Posts

Hey guys ;) This is my first army. most likely it will be my only army, so I'm glad I picked a Nurgle army. I decided to go with the Purge for several reasons. Mostly because they have very little fluff so I can make up the fluff as I go along. I'm trying to do a "paint one mini a day," but I doubt that will happen. So far I have painted 3 regular CSM troops. I have only painted 10 minis and I'm in love with it. C&C is always welcome, but go easy, I'm still a newb :P

More to come! Hopefully with my fluff as well. That stuff takes forever.

Great work. I've been painting for years, and honestly, my stuff isn't too far beyond what you're doing here.

The grey lines on the banner guy are a little thick, but you could thin those out easy enough with more black. You could also drill out those Bolt Pistols - always makes them look better.

I know it's tough, but try to keep that painting pace up. Posting updates is always a good drive to make that happen, so keep adding to this thread.

I didn't get to finish because I'm trying aout some new blending and painting techniques. I'm happy with this guy so far.

Few things I learned today:

- blending is hard as hell

- chaos black is an eraser

- there is such a thing as too much devlan mud

Small update. I've been reading so many cool tutorials and how to's lately. I'm starting to get the hang of the blending technique. Thinning your paints is awesome...who knew? On this power fist I tried to do some battle damage by semi highlighting with chainmail around the black. I can't wait to finish this guy so I can start on the next one. Cheers!

This guy is going to be awesome :)

I'm inclined to agree, gorgeous minis. I'm only a little bothered by the fact you've just started and they look as good as they do. My first marines were.... unpleasant to look at.

Was hard pressed to find criticism on these. Try boring out the barrels of the bolters, can't honestly think of anything else. :(

Can't wait to see that dual-scythe wielding maniac together and painted.

Looks great, Malarius. The only niggling thing is the Undivided iconography- since the Purge are Nurgle aligned, having all those 8-pointed stars everywhere is a bit incongruous, unless they are PM recruits for the Black Legion or something.

The chap with the scythes is amazing. I am looking forward to however you choose to mount the arms- so many threatening poses await!

Thanks for all the kind comments! :P About the undivided iconography...meh, those guys aren't full fledged plague marines yet. I wish I could update more, but I have just started summer school,s o the next six weeks are to be filled with ewrt 1b :P

Anyways, I am slowly working on the next part of the dual scythes lord. I'm going to be using Chaos raptor feet and put them on the termie lord.

Here's what I've been working on as of late. I'm using the feet from the Chaos Lord with jump pack and lightning claws. Chopping them off was a nerve wracking pain! But, the end result was great. I'm going to be adding some green stuff around the points of contact adding some pustules and tentacles. Also, I will be adding a Nurgle belly to him.

Been a looooooong time since I have posted here. This is where I am with my Purge Lord. :)

He's coming along--slowly but surely like so many things in my army, as well.

Those raptor feet are great. Is there going to be something that makes him fly, though? Wings, maybe? It's a great pose, but it doesn't make complete sense without something for flight (not that Chaos has to make sense, of course).
