sp4rky
I only just thought about it whilst assembling my new FineCast models... If I use the plastic glue, will it work? will the models melt into oblivion like the wicked witch of the west? I don't really want to test it on my brand new expensive models! thanks in advance :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230782-finecast-and-plastic-glue/ Share on other sites
RebG
As far as we've been told so far it's normal resin so no, you need superglue. Plastic glue (surprisingly) only works on plastic :D Edit: The GW site is saying superglue too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230782-finecast-and-plastic-glue/#findComment-2774157 Share on other sites
Olis
Why not test it on some sprue? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230782-finecast-and-plastic-glue/#findComment-2774197 Share on other sites
sp4rky
well that would just be too clever for me Olisredan :P. Superglue it is then, thank you! Brother Tancred
Definitely super glue, it was on Friday's blog post on GW site when assembling Skulltaker. winterdyne
No. You need superglue. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230782-finecast-and-plastic-glue/#findComment-2774309 Share on other sites

Plastic glue (surprisingly) only works on plastic ;) Edit: The GW site is saying superglue too It's not normal resin just to say. It is a special compound that has been mixed with resin in order to make it less lethal and easier to use/covert. chromedog
Polystyrene cement only works on certain plastics - like the polystyrene that model kits (including GW's plastic kits). It DOES NOT work on resin, nor does it work on ABS (the resin-like grey plastic that PP uses for its plastic kits - as opposed to the resin they use for the larger pieces). You need a much more chemically aggressive solvent for ABS plastics (those solvents generally contain MEK, for example) and have the downside of destabilising resin (turning it into goo). Finecast IS a resin, it is a Polyurethane resin, that is similar to one used by many other miniature and garage kit makers use (FW use a different resin, but it is still a PU resin). Superglues or two part epoxy adhesives (araldite) are your options. averykess
Use superglue. Quick tip: Baking Soda can be used as a non-toxic accelerant. Put the glue on one side, lightly dust the other side with the baking soda.
